Well you got your wish - Jeremy Pruitt, FSU's DC, is now UGA's DC.

I can't say anything bad about the guy - seems like a very bright, hard working guy who took a great defense that lost a lot of parts and turned it into an elite unit.

I'm surprised he jumped ship, frankly...there's no reason to think that 3 more years of quality work at FSU wouldn't turn into a really good HC offer somewhere, and while he could have a lot of success at UGA as well, the last few guys have not worked out. I don't see that UGA is a more stable environment either. I guess the OL coach (who seems on shaky ground himself) is a good "friend" of his but it still seems like a risky move.

I'm ecstatic! I am a little disappointed the Noles are going to lose such a great coach. But, Pruitt is exactly who we need to turn around the defensive backfield. I hope Chris Wilson and Olivadotti stay on board.

It is a lateral move if not a demotion, but if he can turn Georgia's defense around and bring a title to Athens then he will be named a HC sooner. Love that he has rots in Hoover and came up through the ranks with Bama. FSU's defense is why they were able to dominate this year and most importantly to keep it close enough in Pasadena for Winston to wake up and lead the victory drive. I looooooove this hire.

We'll see how it works out. There's absolutely no question that the defense was the key to the NC run but the guy was coaching high school just a few years ago and hardly had any responsibilities under Saban, then just one year at the helm. Maybe he truly is the kind of guy who can do the same thing at UGA but it's very risky for them and for him.

He did bring a few elite recruits to FSU that were instrumental this year, but there was a lot of very mature defensive leadership already at FSU; not sure what UGA has there (other than a talented young group).

I wish the best for the guy, and hopefully it'll work out for him and for FSU, but I think there's just as much chance it bites him in the ass in the long run.

I have faith. If Mason is competent next year, then Gurley and Marshall will give them a chance to make it to Atlanta. Pruitt may be the key to winning the SEC again, finally...

Depends who's hotter. Georgia girls or Tallahassee girls. I think we need to for a committee.

Yes, from $540K to $850K, though it's unclear if/how much we countered with. Part of Jimbo's new contract is an extra $500K for his assistants so it seems like he could have matched UGA's offer (or come close anyway).

It's quite possible he didn't get along with Jimbo that well, reports are that he has been extremely difficult to work with (keep in mind we lost 6 coaches last offseason), but reports also indicate he's gotten much, much better in that regard after some offseason discussions.

Oh well, Jimbo has shown himself to be a good judge of talent, both in the coaching and playing ranks, so hopefully he'll hit another home run this time. Pruitt was a gamble in the first place, he was hired because of his theories on how to stop the spread and our defense was quite good there this year. He wasn't at FSU long enough to have it feel like he's being disloyal...just very strange.

Rumors now are that Pruitt is a Petrino wannabe...he's not even married but is engaged, but I guess when you start banging office personnel it's bad news.

Good thing he's going to UGA because Lord knows there are no hot, tempting coeds there. At all.

The NonConference

Clemson (11-2)
Troy (6-6)
Charleston Southern (10-3)
Georgia Tech (7-6)

A good slate of games, arguably the best in the SEC. Only downgrade is for the FCS game and playing all at home.

Grade: A-

The Gamecocks with play like the Seahawks next Saturday. I have no doubt. Georgia will be special this year if they win that game. That's a huge IF...
