“… The more of its USD1 stablecoins in circulation, the more the Trump family could profit from the assets underpinning the token’s value. Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer, reported $13 billion in profit last year.

For Binance, Trump’s presidential power could help free the company of its legal woes. The company’s 2023 agreement with U.S. authorities placed onerous restrictions on the once freewheeling exchange, requiring it to remove all of its American customers, report all previous suspicious transactions, and cooperate with two independent monitors appointed by the Treasury and Justice departments last May to serve for five and three years, respectively.

Binance is also seeking a pardon for its convicted founder, Changpeng Zhao, The Wall Street Journal previously reported. Zhao served four months in prison last year after pleading guilty to related charges, and a pardon would make it easier for the company to return to the U.S. ….”

“… The Trump family’s embrace of Binance captures a strange dynamic in the White House. The crypto tycoons that previous administrations pursued for helping the U.S. government’s foes move their funds—Russian sanctions evaders, Islamic terrorist groups, Mexican drug cartels, global fraud rings—are now doing business with the president and members of his inner circle.

Trump has already pardoned a string of crypto felons, including BitMEX exchange co-founder Arthur Hayes, who pleaded guilty to violating the same U.S. anti-money-laundering law as Zhao.

Justin Sun, founder of the Tron blockchain network, is World Liberty’s largest outside investor and advises the company. More than half of all illicit crypto activity last year—some $26 billion—took place on Tron, blockchain researcher TRM Labs estimates.

In February, after he invested $75 million into World Liberty’s token, the Securities and Exchange Commission asked a court to pause a fraud lawsuit against Sun.

Under the Biden administration, the Justice Department had been investigating Sun for suspected financial crimes, people familiar with the case said. It couldn’t be learned whether the inquiry is ongoing.

As part of Zhao’s plea deal, he agreed to give evidence on Sun to prosecutors, some of the people said. That arrangement hasn’t previously been reported. The Justice Department declined to comment. …”

Frank Luntz is apparently not sophisticated enough to understand the difference between unsophisticated people who “hate but need” continuous well formed work vs the few people who are happy to do those jobs, they all wind up doing work they don’t really want to do for the rest of their life. I was 20 years old in a warehouse working with people in their sixties. A policy wonk or an academic or a journalist or an entertainer or a life long politician may never have had to do a hard days work in their life. So they may irrationally think we can all be happy with what we do to earn money. Operate from that reality and the narrative on how the world really is for the majority of US citizens is very different than your ideals or passions.

No one ever dreamed of being a garbage man. But $34 an hour is a whole lot for some people to give up, people who may have lived with so much less.

"they all wind up doing work they don’t really want to do for the rest of their life."

This is what bugs me. Seems like we could figure out a better way than consigning the majority of people to a lifetime of work that is neither satisfying nor fulfilling. And yet most people just meekly accept that that's the way it's got to be. Why??

So 2% of Americans work in a factory, but 25% of Americans would be better off if they could work in a factory. Exactly how are these ridiculous questions even supposed to be contradicting the 80% who said "America would be better of if more people worked in manufacturing"

Because free market capitalism is what we've got to put food on the table and not kill each other over anti-biotics or a roof over our heads. No other economic system produces nearly the kind of wealth generated this way, particularly in the information age. The problem we have here in the States with free market capitalism is that it butts heads directly with globalism and free trade. Those two variables sincerely fuck things up for US citizens who weren't born with an IQ over 100. Prior to Trump, the solution for those pitiful souls (who have abandoned Christ) was loneliness, crime, drug addiction, porn, and suicide.

if it comes to it, send me a resume. I'm not sure what I can do but I do have access to some people that might be able to help

the larger picture here is that many people are coming to realize that college isn't the fast track to the American dream that it was 40 years ago.

Couple that with the fact that an unreasonably high percentage of students graduating high school can't read or do math at a 9th grade level and factory jobs start taking on a higher priority.

sadly, many of the manufacturing jobs that are coming back are going to require highly educated people, meaning that those that forego college due to whatever reason (who would have normally gone to college a decade ago) would benefit from it. The people graduating high school that can't read or do math are just fucked. I told my son, if you fit in that category you are competing with a Mexican. Thankfully, Trump is shipping their ass out as fast as he can at least giving lower performing Americans opportunities for the $20 - $25 an hour jobs, which is all they have been asking since 1985

Instead of every meat processing, landscaping, roofing, painting, concrete, drywall and general laborer job was filled with illegals, or children of illegals.

If there is a positive to Unions and Apprenticeships, they focused on hiring Americans, not illegals

That is correct. We have a large percentage of ESL students in schools nowadays (particularly in Arizona) they can not read, write, or even speak English. And forget math, they “graduate” with a 6th grade math level.

Number one reason why screen ordering at fast food restaurants is so popular is the screen does all the money math that the counter help could never do.

What's been stopping anyone who wants one of those jobs from getting them? Or are you saying they're paying illegals less than they would Americans? And if that's the case, what's going to happen to prices when you're having to pay people twice as much to do the same jobs?

Wait for the new home construction to take a hit. Probably 20-30k extra to build an average home if the fucking genius actually follows through.

Debt does not equal capitalism. All debt does with capitalism is increase the gains and losses. And debt dramatically speeds up that loss or gain.

Pay cash for a piece of property and that is still capitalism.

Of course builders are not just going to tack on their extra costs, they're going to tack on their standard percentage profit to the new total cost (and why shouldn't they?), so if it's costing them and extra $30K in labor, it's going to cost the customer and extra $40K...

Fucking Elon Musk didn't pay cash for Twitter (or anything else), he finances everything, just like every other business or individual does. And even a moron like yourself knows good and goddamn well that Trump never paid cash for anything in his life (mainly b/c he didn't have any). His whole "empire" was a house of cards built on loans that he never had to pay back b/c he declared bankruptcy every time.

Bottom line is that nobody pays cash for anything, whether they have it or not. Most people can't, and the ones that can still finance everything. That's called debt, idiot. It's what makes the world go round. The biggest debtor is the biggest winner. In whose interest do you think it's most important that the US doesn't default on its debt? Our fucking creditors, that's who. As long as we could be depended upon to be a good partner and a stabilizing force in the world, everybody was willing (and eager) to buy our debt. Not anymore. But don't worry, we'll just pay cash for everything going forward, no problem at all. You fucking moron...

I pay cash for things. I am nothing special. The biggest reason why we as a people are in so much trouble is people refuse to save before they buy things.
