Just happened to channel surf and caught these guys on PBS. Thought they were quite good but what really caught my eye is they are playing in a CAVE. Taped in full HD 333-feet below ground within Tennessee’s majestic Cumberland Caverns. This makes me want to go to check it out.

It's not really clear from the title, but the program from the cave is called "Bluegrass Underground" and they have been doing shows there for a few years now. The venue is neat, but not as acoustically perfect as you would think.
The band is Chatham County Line - a decent bluegrass band from North Carolina. Saw them perform in Pigeon Forge of all places.

Chatham Co. is the neighboring county to Orange Co., home of UNC...

I thought that house you lived in on 54 was near the Chatham County line.

Not really, that was west of Chapel Hill, towards Saxapahaw. Chatham county is south. But from campus, I would say getting to the Chatham county line was closer than getting to the house out on 54...

I got some great vodka from Russia, then friends came over from Moscow and bought me 4 more bottles neat bottles too! when you are there bottles of vodka are put on the table like water is hereeCat wrote:I don't like either one since college.
All of us have at least 1 blue velvet bag stuck in the back of a closet somewhere
Vodkas made up like 5 of the top 10 with 1 of them being that water downed brand you buy by the gallon at Kroger. I'm sure Rat knows what I'm talking about. Gotta love vodka bottles that have their own handle.
But I pretty much drink only Vodka now when I want alcohol. I occasionally drink a Stella when I go out for dinner. Cutting out soft drinks has noticeably increased my casual beer drinking.

Did you have that accent when you lived in SF Hedge???hedge wrote:Logan does this internet TV broadcast every morning, peddling his wares, he's always asking me to call in just to fill time. He came down to our office last week and we hung out in Washington, NC (known to all as little Washington around here). So the next morning, he sets up his camera and computer and broadcast the show from the front porch, with a very special guest. Go to the 12:20 mark (unless you want to start at the beginning and watch Logan's technical analysis of the Aussie dollar and Shanghai index charts). Enjoy:

That sweet iced tea is garbage and will spike your blood sugar. Be Safe

"That sweet iced tea is garbage and will spike your blood sugar."
Wars have been started with less provocation than this. Needless to say, I'm glad you said it...

For being in the Hinterlands of NC, Hedge has a VERY muted accent, Cat.

Highlands makes the Beard semifinalist list again for outstanding restaurant (something like the 11th year in a row). If you are in the area, it is a must:

Alinea should win. It's the first year it's eligible and the fact that the awards are in Chicago should give it a little boost. Ironically, it will probably still be closed in May so nobody will be able to go over and try out the "Best Restaurant in America."

I have got to get back to Chicago. My last time in all I had was a hotdog at Wrigley and an Italian Beef at Portillo's.

I'm sure Van Nostrum would prefer either of those choices over Alinea...

Italian beef is quite good and Portillo's is an acceptable option if you are downtown.

It was tasty. And I was doing a thing at Loyola, and according to the folks I was with, it was the best lunch option in the area.
