The Russian Federation has a smaller GDP than the state of New York. There are variety of reasons as to why this is, not the least of which are the very short lifespans of the average Russian male (alcohol psychosis) and Russia's desire to stop having children. Hard to have a vibrant economy with a bunch of 50 year old childless alcoholics who are getting ready to die.

There are only 160 million of them (or so) about two-thirds the population of the Soviet Union during World War II. A nation with population decline. So that is not very many people spread out over 11 fucking time zones.

Canada also has population decline (of sorts) as they decided to stop having babies but they seem to break even or maybe increase a tiny bit with immigration. Their almost 30 million have a longer lifespan that the average Russian and they tend to have much more valuable education.

Russia has the 9th highest population of any nation on this planet, more than 5 times the population of Canada, and you're trying to say it's b/c they like to drink that their GDP is less than Canada's? You're an idiot...

No. I'm saying they are raging alcoholics and they are dead 55 or whatever because Russia can't seem to do much of anything other than drink vodka, mine for uranium, drill for oil, or grow wheat. And sell it all to Europeans. Canadians are sophisticated, working professional information age jobs for information age money. Canadians have genuine, meaningful education, that could be monetized in a global economy. Russians? Not so much.

So, the disparity of "per capita GDP" (one Canadian > 5 Russians) easy to explain. Why else would the youngest and hottest Russian pussy submit to being purchased and trafficked to the west as mail order brides?
