Not capable of firing more than 13 without reloading? Many 9mm and 40 cals have a higher capacity than 13. I have 4 such pistols.

that is what you took from my rant?

I used that number because I thought (perhaps mistakenly) that is the threshold for what is considered regular versus hi-capacity magazines.

With rifles, perhaps. Not with pistols.

I didn't respond to anything else in the rant because it's not addressed to me. I am NOT for the criminization or prohibition of so-called assault rifles. I never have been. I have some weapons in my collection that many (most?) would consider assault weapons.

actually in the assault weapons ban it was less

"The act separately defined and banned "large capacity ammunition feeding devices", which generally applied to magazines or other ammunition feeding devices with capacities of greater than an arbitrary number of rounds and which up to the time of the act had been considered normal or factory magazines. These ammunition feeding devices were referred to in the media and popular culture as "high capacity magazines or feeding devices". Depending on the locality and type of firearm, the cutoff between a "normal" capacity and "high" capacity magazine was 3, 7, 10, 12, 15, or 20 rounds. The now defunct federal ban set the limit at 10 rounds."

but my point was that the vast majority of gunshot victims died by handguns that were of "normal" capacity.

Had to be just rifles. 17+1 pistols are very common and have been. Which just illustrates the questionable logic in such a ban.

but you're ok with 100 round assault rifles?
No.

Wonder how people would feel if they substituted Baptists instead of Muslims?

The problem with gus restrictions is once they start...they never stop going after more. Stop blaming the damn guns and enforce what is already on the books. You are never going to be 100% safe. If it isn't semi-auto weapons they are using they will build bombs and pull a McVeigh on a theatre.

Ban Ryder trucks. Ban all the ingredients that could be used in making bombs. Ban cars cuz you could make a car bomb. Ban ban ban ban ban.

"And re: Meth. I heard its use was increasing after a brief lull. That most of the meth is coming from Mexico."

In that case, Birmingham must be awash in it...

Then why do you want them to uphold the gun laws currently already passed?

I don't other than keeping guns out of convicted felons hands... but I was talking about more about the fact that every time something like this happens they talk about more gun laws. We have enough gun laws. Every time there is a drunk driver who kills somebody do we drop the BAC down further? No.

You can't protect the citizens against everything. How much freedom do you want to give away to feel "protected". As Benjamin Franklin once said "Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither"

So, you're equating Muslims with Baptists.
