Hey Jameis, your first game will be on the road on national television and you'll have the greatest debut of any FSU QB ever. How do you feel?

They've had worse defenses that looked good against us, and our O-line is not good enough (and never will be under Trickett) to let us take advantage of Clemson effectively.

Plus it's a tough place to play where we haven't won in a while.
Winner of the Clemson-FSU games wins both the Atlantic division and the whole ACC. And the winner will be Clemson.

the offense looked much better than I thought they would - can't believe the Pitt D was giving our receivers so much space - if they don't have the speed to cover they will be torched several times this season

the Nole D looked like they have talent but are still learning a new system - several youngsters in the mix - hopefully we won't have any major screw ups in the next few weeks and we don't look ahead to Clemson when playing the terps

Pitt's secondary supposedly has 2-3 NFL-bound players, but you're right they gave the receivers way too much cushion. They were obviously trying to prevent the big play and wait for the freshman QB to make a mistake. They're still waiting. It's surprising because the reports on JW have been that he is overconfident in his arm and tries to force plays when he shouldn't (he did that a couple of times last night but it worked). He did a great job of trusting his receivers and throwing before they were open which is something EJ never did particularly well. He usually waited to throw it until after they were open which is often too late.

The exciting thing about the new defensive staff is that the defense will change weekly according to the offense being played. Stoops was more predictable and vanilla. This worked great early in his tenure because we didn't have the talent or depth to support the Bama system but now we do. We're going to give up some big plays and long drives, like we did last night, but that will be offset with some #20 in your FACE.

Remember how long it took Charlie Ward to look that comfortable?

EJ never did.

Exactly.

Teams will find a way to make him less comfortable in a hurry, but EJ just never got in a rhythm. He made plays and was effective at times but you never got the sense he was about to drive the team down the field. Nothing bothered Winston last night...first and 30? No problem, here's an ill-advised pass that splits a couple of defenders after a near-sack. Coach couldn't get the play in on time? Fuck you, I'll just throw a bullet for a first down anyway.

Damn, 10 posts in the last year on this thread, then some freshman QB lights it up and the board blows up...

I think that's the only HR he gave up all year. He pitched pretty well.

I wouldn't expect to beat a bunch of pot smoking hippies at frisbee.

far as I know they dont use refs in the professional leagues. Now I have no idea how much money is at stake in those leagues.

Professional? Are you sure it's not a college circuit? I know zero about ultimate frisbee but I wouldn't think pro teams could attach to a school's name and colors.

When I said "pro" I wasn't referring to the teams in the video. I was referring to the fact that pro leagues to my knowledge don't use referees either.

Another slow start by the noles then BAM! with 3 minutes left in the half and thru 12 minutes of the 3rd quarter we get 45 points and tack on 14 more by the clean up squad in the 4th...unbelievable

glad (and impressed) to see how well the the younger kids are playing when they get in - hopefully by the time we play Clemson, UM and UF we will have enough depth to keep a good rotation going for 60 minutes

Five.

And six throwing TDS and two rushing.

I thought for sure he was going to be back to his freshman self when he started out 2-5 with a pick, then he rolled off 13 straight completions and looked unstoppable again. It WAS just Nevada but still a good showing. The worst part about it is that their QB and offense was supposed to be hurry-up, no-huddle like Clemson but the starter was hurt and the backup got hurt in the game so they slowed it down and ran a more traditional offense and we didn't get the warmup we'd hoped for.
