I feel bad for the Colts. I really do. With two away games at New England and Baltimore, the ass kicking they deliver will be nothing compared to what the Saints did. Hopefully the ghost of Art Donovan can rest in peace after that. I mean, Indy has played in more games in Indy than they did when they were the Baltimore Colts AND the city got their Super Bowl win a lot sooner than Indy did when the teams moved there but yeah, I can see why Baltimore fans still want the Colts logo.

I saw Unitas and Raymond Berry in a Schick razor commercial when I was a kid and they became my team from that point forward. Even after the falcons got started in Atlanta. Chuck Thompson was my favorite all-time announcer. Colts vs Packers...Johnny U vs Starr...man, it was the best.

I even hung in with the colts after the nighttime/tractor-trailer bugout. The Bert Jones years were as good as it got, though. But then came '98....and then it was REALLY on. After that my boys could name the colts 2-deep on both sides of the ball.

So I'm not just a Peyton fan who can jump ship when he retires. And I can't stand the titans. Bring on Luck...and then gradually bring along Luck. And good grief get rid of Caldwell.

Who says Luck doesn't decide to stay for his senior year. Maybe he likes college. He was guarenteed #1 last year and stayed--why not do it again this year?

What I really want to happen:

Manning practices in December and has no ill effects from the surgery, meaning everything is okay for next year.

Colts get #1 pick.

Trade that pick to Denver / Miami for their entire draft or at least a boat load of 1s and 2s over the next couple of years.

Denver you ask?? Elway - Stanford connection. He would give up the farm to get him even though he has Tebow.

Colts use said picks to get better in a hurry and build for the future. Take your QB to mentor under Manning next year or the year after with those acquired picks.

However, if Manning isn't healthy enough to go, you have to take Luck. No other choice.

You have to take Luck. Period.

And trade Purrty for whatever draft picks you can muster, to get that onerous contract off the books.

It would be fun to watch Peyton go to another crappy team and turn them into an instant contender. It would be enjoyable to watch the haters go even further into meltdown.

if by 'contender' you mean 'likely to lose your first-round playoff game', then yes....
