Hedge,

Thanks for the Cozumel recommendations. The east side of the island was definitely the place to be last week as the El Norte wind came rolling in on on Sunday (during the bike leg of my race which was not cool at all) so the west side was way too windy and choppy. It's a nice place and if you are ever considering an Ironman, I'd recommend this race. It was very hard but the local support was awesome and made it a little bit easier.
