But military spending for the 3rd Reich was an absurd percentage of total German GDP. It was a matter of scope. Total war footing for more than a decade. Plus (as aTm correctly pointed out) some slave labor was used by German companies for military hardware production.

Our military spending with Trump dropped as low as 3% of GDP. It was 9% of GDP in 1961 with Kennedy. It was 25% of GDP with FDR in 1942. Under Chancellor Hitler's leadership, Germany's military spending as a percentage of GDP was well beyond 25%.

I think the prime directive here (on the left) is to claim that you are championing the dispossessed. If in 1939, you were a German, Russian, or Polish Jew, everything was taken from you. You were lucky just to be alive! Therefore, those who took from you are the enemy and (since leftists can only think linerarly) that enemy MUST be "on the right." Therefore, Nazis were far right wing. The fact that Nazis were left wing socialists created an intelectual paradox for the leftist, but they just chose to disregard that reality.

Today, Israel is a small country but a rich country, filled with literate, educated, people. They have a first world education system, a first world legislature, a first world judiciary, and a first world military. They are the ones with power in the region. The paleo-arabs, have nothing. They are primative. They are not much more than neanderthal level in their existance. So, a leftist (championing the dispossessed) MUST side with the paleo-arab.
