Pleased to see a list with lots of big talented linemen. Only thing missing is a solid upper-tier running back.

Funny article:

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012 ... s_big.html

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer brought the SEC to the Big Ten faster than imagined. Rival coaches are already griping about his recruiting tactics.

This recruiting season, Meyer took away Michigan State's top-ranked recruit, defensive end Se'Von Pittman. Then at the last minute Meyer got standout offensive tackle Kyle Dodson, once a Wisconsin commitment.

Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi told reporters that former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel and Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio never talked to each other's verbal commitments.

"I'm not accusing anyone specifically," Narduzzi said, according to the Detroit Free-Press. "All I'm saying was that there was time when there was an understanding between coaches that if two of you were going after somebody and they committed, you backed off."

Cue SEC laughter.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema told the Sporting News that his AD, Barry Alvarez, would speak with Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany about Meyer's recruiting methods. Bielema has hinted Meyer used "illegal" recruiting practices, although Alvarez publicly sided with Meyer's aggressiveness to turn commitments.

"I can tell you this," Bielema told the Sporting News. "We at the Big Ten don't want to be like the SEC -- in any way, shape or form."

Cue pictures of six straight crystal balls in the SEC.

The state of Alabama is not to blame for Prof not being able read fast enough to keep up with the front page.

That's the kind of recruiting story you enjoy reading. Dad said pick what fits you best and left it at that.

Fred was a very good back at Florida...I much preferred watching him in Jacksonville.

I hear UF is playing in the NCAA Tourney even though their season effectively ended when Yeguete went down. Unless they get some lame opponent this is a sure bet one-and-done.

From champs to chomped: How Urban Meyer broke Florida football

PUBLISHED Monday, Apr 9, 2012 at 9:04 am EDT
LAST UPDATED 4 hours and 28 minutes ago

The uproar and controversy of Urban Meyer’s stunning recruiting coup at Ohio State settled in and Stefon Diggs, still on the Buckeyes' wish list, was debating his future.

Diggs, the second-highest rated wide receiver in the country, had narrowed his list of potential schools to Maryland, Florida and Ohio State. For more than a week following National Signing Day on Feb. 1, and before Diggs eventually signed with Maryland, Meyer relentlessly pursued Diggs.

Multiple sources told Sporting News that Meyer—who won two national championships in six years at Florida and cemented his legacy as one of the game’s greatest coaches—told the Diggs family that he wouldn’t let his son go to Florida because of significant character issues in the locker room.

Character issues that we now know were fueled by a culture Meyer created. Character issues that gutted what was four years earlier the most powerful program in college football.
