Saying one thing (esp. to the point that it's considered a mantra) and doing another is the definition of hypocrisy...
that doesn't change that people who want small government (and the implication that they want to government to leave them alone) are going to gravitate more toward the GOP does it? Or does having self professed socialist democrats running for president make people believe the DNP is against government intervention?

the GOP may claim the moral high ground which is a mistake but they are not much worse.
The biggest issue with the GOP is there are people that are undesirable that gravitate to the
Rigging elections forever and launching a coup or publicly gesturing toward one in the meantime when they don’t win. Giving everything to the billionaires/corporations then starving government so there’s no way to ever check corporate power again. Not to mention the whole theocracy thing that’s looming. Like a lot of righties you just don’t want to see it.

I see it, I'm just not blind to lockdowns and telling corporations to fire someone for not getting a vaccination. Is that your vision of a benevolent government for the people?

Take what I said and compare it to what you said. If you really come away thinking the GOP is the better option then there’s nothing else to say. There is no right or wrong in politics. As long as you know what you’re actually supporting and opposing.

That's just what they tell the rubes. Who do you think is going to step into the power vacuum once the government is all but dismantled? I don't know but hope it's not the same folks who have been offshoring/destroying good paying jobs, keeping wages stagnant for decades, gutting retirement packages, etc. Because that would be a nightmare.
