the younger perry probably has a lot to be desired as a business asset.
I beg to differ. I figure the younger Perry would be a tremendous asset to any giant corporation that wants to do business with the state of Texas. I thought he would have been on the board of directors for several oil companies while he was still in high school.

This is a classic 9:1 headline...

"Rioters hijack Rome protests"

http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20111015 ... ests_world

Another way to say it is that the protest turned violent. Or that the protesters rioted. That's how it would have been written if some assholes started rioting at a Tea Party gathering. But since these are left-wing assholes, the well-meaning protesters had their demonstration "hijacked" by a few bad apples -- who, we are supposed to believe, have almost no connection to the actual protest.

Yes, I'll pay for the illegals to come here and sit on their asses while I also pick my own fruit, because they're too comfy to be bothered to do it.

You're a democrat alright.

150 / day to pick apples. How long is the day? Even at 10 hours that's still 15 / hr. What happened to teenagers wanting summer jobs, or in this case, at least a few hours work after school?

Maybe the government can offer an additional 5 / hr bonus to entice the illegals who are here. That would help The O continue his world wide apology tour and still be cheaper than just paying for them to do nothing.

Then meet me in Washington. We'll let the illegals pick the fruit, give them low wages, take taxes out of their wages, and then charge them for the bus ticket back across the fucking boarder at gun point.

Yep I needed to hire some young kids for cleaning up brush around the house.

I had already cut the trees, cut up the wood and all they had to do is move it and pile the brush up.

Doesn't appear HS kids want to work any more (I hauled hay and cut tobacco all day for 2.75 per hour and thought I was rich when I had 27.50 after a 10 hour day). I was happy to get that work too.

Now days if you can find a kid to do outside work they want MORE than minimum wage.

I got my nephew to help me. He drove over an hour one way to get here. I paid him well, really well because he was the only one willing to do it, he never asked me how much I was going to pay him, and he got it done in half the time I expected him to. I made him promise to tell everyone that I paid him minimum wage (the rest was a tip so they don't have to know about that LOL).

The reason is he knows alot of the teenagers around here, as well as some of the other nephews/cousins etc and I didn't want them to start looking for things I needed done if they found out what I paid him. They had their chance but nobody ever showed up to actually work except the one.

Where I live the Junior High Kids went door to door passing out flyers offering to rake leaves and do yard work for free on the 22nd for a school project on volunteering. Dammit if I didn't take down my two big ash trees a month ago.

A few hours wouldn't come close to doing the job. What this suggests is that $15 per hour isn't enough for this type of work. Pay more, or let illegals in.

or get rid of our child labor laws. hell they were passed under the interstate commerce clause. Some don't believe they should have been passed in the first place. Allow children to work a half day after school

It's part time work Owley. Depends on how many kids would be willing to work. Also, what about people working a second job? Might make some money to (perish the thought) pay CASH for Christmas?

Pay more for the work? I can't answer to that. With the money farmers stand to lose, perhaps a smaller profit line may be in order. They are after all, each and every one of them I'm sure, large land owners and big businessmen.

Let illegals in? Fuck That. Let immigrants and documented migrant workers in who do things the right way. Allowing illegals to simply come across the boarder with no checks and balances is horse shit. Not only that, it's a slap in the face to their own countrymen and women who wanted to come here and DID do things the right way. I have no problem with immigration. I do have a problem with illegals.

If 15 / hr isn't enough, how about a flat rate per bushel? That's how the farmer gets paid. Then the worker can make as much as they're willing to.
