Playing for the Yankees Has Its Perks. In-Flight Internet Is Not One of Them.

Tragically, one of the world’s most valuable sports franchises doesn’t provide complimentary Wi-Fi to its millionaire employees.

Damn...solid.

I will be at the Pirate home opener next week. We'll probably have some polka accordion guy throw out the first pitch...

This is a column I suspect could be written many times in the next few years, but now is as good a time as any.

Where is rock bottom for Cincinnati Reds attendance?

The Reds are averaging 15,890 fans at Great American Ball Park this season. No surprise as the Reds have followed up a 100-loss season with another rough start, entering Wednesday in last place in the NL Central.

It’s a jarring number, nonetheless, because it indicates the Reds’ home attendance continues in a freefall − even after a historically brutal 2022.

The Reds averaged 17,447 at home last season, worst in Great American Ball Park history. Total attendance last season was down nearly 1 million fans compared to 2003, the Reds’ first season at GABP.

The Reds so far are averaging nearly 1,600 fewer fans than they did last season. And that’s with a stadium-record Opening Day crowd this year. However, that was offset by the smallest crowd to ever attend a game at GABP. The Reds announced 7,375 showed up for the April 17 game vs. Tampa Bay.

The Reds deserve all the hardship coming their way. The team will get better by next year but the ownership can suck my dick.
----
Phil Castellini on upset Reds fans: "Where you gonna go? Let's start there. Sell the team to who? ... What would you do with this team to have it be more profitable? ... It would be to pick it up and move it somewhere else. So, be careful what you ask for."
---

Phil fucked around & found out. Opening Day is a holiday. It's always going to sell out.

They'll never leave. They've got excellent youth but They'll most likely trade them away as they become arbitration eligible. As usual. We dumped Gray & Castillo last year & they're 1 & 2 in era right now. It's sad.
