Tree wrote: Thu Oct 13, 2022 10:17 am Yes I understand Tarp happened. Already talked about it. A few hundred billion is a drop in the bucket compared to what’s been needed to keep the broken system afloat since 2008. Look up the Cares Act not to mention the loan repo program that have transferred trillions from the 99% to the 1%. Some say the US is a business but that’s not quite right. It’s a legalized mafia. And both parties are all in.
CARES Act had ZERO to do with the 2008 financial crisis and rescuing banks. It was because of Covid.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CARES_Act

More to the point, CARES Act money went to the people, not the 1%.

As far as the loan repo program goes, this was the most disparaging article I could find. Why couldn't YOU link it?

https://www.bankrate.com/banking/federa ... po-market/

Once again, much of this had to do with Covid, not 2008.

You are all over the place trying to bundle a whole bunch of spending programs/problems and saying that they are all part of what happened with the mortgage crisis that almost took down capitalism in and of itself. You want to blame anyone for that needless Two trillion in federal spending on CARES Act? Blame the entity that will NEVER EVER have to answer for the ruin they brought the world. Blame China, not our government. Your anger here, you are yelling at no one other than China. This spending was a result of Covid, not the big banks loaning money to people that you and I know would never repay it.

That's hilarious...

The CARES act is another data point in how the money grab works. And the loan repo program started before covid.

Since you can't seem to work a google search, here...

I'll assume the points and counter points you didn't respond to (most of them) were conceded.

Both parties are so called socialists, they just like to give stuff to the 1% rather than the masses. Getting back to my rant, Obama actually had money earmarked to help people getting kicked out of their homes after 2008 and he never spent it. Geithner was shown to have lied and ended up getting a nice cushy Wall St job because of it.

Tree,

In Sept of 2008, there were 41 people who worked in our IT department. 41. Keep that number in mind. Of those 41, 4 people allowed their home to slip into foreclosure or did a short sale. None of the 41 ever missed a paycheck. We were continuously paid. All could have chosen to continue making their mortgage payments, but 4 chose not to do so (10% of our staff mailed keys to the bank instead of paying on a note because they were "upside down.")

10% of 41 paid people, foreclosures and short sales in 2008.

Tell me Tree, how much Obama money should those 4 individuals have gotten from you or I to make them whole after they "lost" their homes? What would have been fair? And don't obfuscate that question. And don't create a strawman.

Politics is about the aggregate, not zooming in to specific people. But I understand it's the toxic rhetoric of the right that does just this in order to blame the little guy rather than the ones up top causing the problems.

Gotcha.

I knew you weren't man enough to answer the question. You are just a child. You are a child who THINKS he knows how the world works and how it doesn't. And when I cornered you, you refused to get into the weeds and you simply filibustered. What I mentioned, my circumstance, that was NOT an outlier. That was the norm.

You said 10,000,000 foreclosures. Okay. Lets go with that number. When you say 10,000,000 foreclosures what I say is there are 10,000,000 mortgages made with NO money down, NO skin in the game, mortgages given to people who had NO business owning a home. And you, you want to just give them my tax money after they welshed and mailed their keys into the bank.

Fuck you. Fuck you young man. They are the reason why our economy went to shit. Not ONLY would you want to give them my money, but you do NOT want laws created that restrict banks from lending to them in the future.
