Unfortunately, Noam didn't do a very good job communicating what a self-supporting pool is. I read the NYT article and that was not very good at describing it either. I'm sure rat will wait to comment on it until the DNC tells him what position he is commanded to take.

DNC doesn't get too involved in labor issues anymore. They're more about identity politics and convincing people that we need to be waging wars around the globe.

rat, just so we are clear, the civil rights lawsuit filed against DeSantis and Abbott to get them to stop bussing illegals to the North, it was just "lawfare." That is it. There are no real victims in this case. No victims. There will be no damages. There is no real chance that the lawsuit will succeed. That is not the point of "lawfare."

So what is "lawfare" exactly? The point of "lawfare" is just to jam up a political opponent with an expensive lawsuit that they must defend themselves, even if they know they are going to win. Its just to make them stop doing whatever they are doing or to just go away. Lets put these bullshit Civil Rights lawsuits against the governors aside for a moment and give another example. All the lawsuits that Elizabeth Holmes filed against George' Schultz's grandson and all the other Theranos whistle blowers, she (and Theranos) had no hope of winning those cases. That was all just "lawfare." Same thing with the lawsuit filed against Deep Fucking Value making money on reddit as a retain investor last year with GameStop, just "lawfare."

Abbott is not going to stop. Neither will DeSantis. They are both too smart for falling for "lawfare."

Billionaire Jeff Bezos can only buy up single family homes IF THEY ARE FOR SALE. There is not much for sale. And if he is buying them all up that means that the "market" has decided that they do NOT want to buy them. The "market" thinks these houses are over-priced and waiting for the bubble to burst. And the very few people who ARE selling (probably very few of them under duress) are absolutely thrilled that Bezos came along and gave them the price that they were asking.

There is no great conspiracy here. Bezos just wants to be an absentee landlord or maybe he wants to get into the house flipping business? You want people to avoid the rent trap, build more houses and build more rentals. Drive the price of housing lower. People are in the rent trap because they are not responsible enough to save up enough of a down payment to buy.

Renting is way smarter than buying...

I'm sure they were thrilled to sell their houses, in some cases probably above market value. But you're missing the point as usual.
