(1) Dominating? Hard to say but Timmy Jernigan is very good, and Goldman (sorry for stealing him from Bama) showed some flashes toward the end of the season.

(2) We have the quick OLB, but we're hurting for run stoppers on the inside.

(3) Hard to say here too. Xavier Rhodes was a bit disappointing this year and is probably heading to the pros next year. Darby could be very good (ACC D ROTY), and Hunter and Waisome looked good at times. I like PJ Williams a lot too - all of them are young though.

Even with the players we lose off a very good defense this year, he's inheriting a lot of talent. I have no problem with the hire, let's just see how it goes. This is pretty much Fisher's hill to die on, if Pruitt fails he's probably signed his termination papers, if Pruitt does well then Fisher will be here for a while.

But if you're alluding to a switch to 3-4, we don't have the personnel for this IMO right now.

You don't even know who your coaches are yet.

Yes, that's what I was suggesting. I think Pruitt will start the process to switch to a 3-4 base.

Don't cry for me, Alabama...

We know our dc and now Sunseri has been hired. So all we are missing is RB/ST. Possibly DE if Sal coaches lb's.

guess the huskies finally played against a decent defense...Lynch looked like a deer in headlights but he did take a lot of punishment and kept on trying - gotta give him credit for that ... I hope our offense becomes more consistent next year - if it weren't for the flashes of pure talent 4 or 5 times a game we would be middle of the pack in the conference

QB runs the ball 23 times.....no tailback gets more than 3 carries?

On the season he ran it 3 times as much as any RB so it wasn't entirely surprising. He was their whole offense and he sucked last night so they got smoked.

I'm surprised Menelik Watson declared for the draft. I guess he's an older guy (25) and may feel like his time is running out but he has so little high-level football experience that anyone drafting him will be gambling. His physical prowess may get him a 3rd or 4th round shot; best of luck to him.

Looks like the Pruitt hire is already paying dividends with the flip of Bama DE recruit Demarcus Walker to FSU. We need depth there desperately with the loss of 3 excellent DEs this year (Brandon Jenkins, Bjoern Werner, and Tank Carradine).

It also looks like we're picking up Charles Kelly from GT to coach LBs. If the improvement in GT's defense after he took over from Groh is any indication, the guy can coach. It would be hard to do worse than Hudson who just never seemed to "get it" as our LB coach. He wasn't much of a recruiter either so anything Kelly can do to help there will be gravy.

I find it a bit ironic that Fisher is rumored to be very hard to work with, so he hires two former Bama guys and a GT guy - each of which is coming from a head coach known to be very demanding. I guess "Capable of Taking Shit from the Boss" is in Jimbo's job descriptions from now on. If we somehow pull Burns from Bama as RB coach I'll be giddy but so far I'm excited about the coaching hires.

The coaching staff did a great job pulling together a good class with all the defections this year. I expect to have a Top 3 class next year but Top 10 this year was a strong finish. I wish we'd gotten a couple more OL but we'll have to make do with what we have.

Good story on SBNation about Dan Kendra, who might have been Tebow before Tebow (stronger and faster than Timmy too). He had some bad injury luck but such promise, and possibly the best athlete FSU has had in my memory, up there with Charlie Ward anyway.

Yeah - out of all the mega recruits we have had - he is #1 on my list for wish things have turned out differently for him.

He was a beast.

Never heard of him. The Tebow thing is funny though.

Interesting times at FSU now. First we lose over half the coaching staff over the offseason. Entering Spring practice, we have Clint Trickett as the heir apparent to EJ Manual - he has had some decent moments in relief of EJ over the past couple of years but certainly doesn't excite the fan base. Then out of the blue Jameis Winston looks like a superstar in the spring game and says and does all the right things....and yesterday it's announced that Trickett is transferring.

So now we have two completely unproven but exciting commodities at QB, Winston and Jacob Coker. Assuming Winston is "the guy", I can't imagine Coker lasting past the 2013 season. Winston might cost us some games this year unless our OL and RB step up, but he seems like a tremendous talent with the humility and leadership to match.
