I thought of you when I got the bowl lineups at 4pm yesterday - BTW, those line-ups are horribly kept secrets. Jerry Palm and Ivan Maisel both had the BCS standings on Twitter hours before they were officially announced.

As the article notes, Crouse was an Army veteran, and is survived by his wife and five children.

Speculation seems to be focused on an armed robbery that occurred in Radford yesterday-- supposedly, the vehicle stolen in that incident was found on campus. That has not yet been confirmed.

Seth Greenberg fired...

It would seem that this is as much the result of Seth Greenberg's management style as it is VT's disappointing 2011-2012 basketball season. VT just had too many assistant coaches leaving for roughly equivalent jobs, and too many players transferring early on in their careers, for Jim Weaver's liking. Greenberg had to fight and scratch for everything he could get from an athletic department that has demonstrated a very shaky commitment to basketball in recent years. That fight apparently exhausted everyone working with him. I can understand why this is happening now, but I cannot understand how Jim Weaver could call a press conference to announce the firing of his head basketball coach without first informing said coach of his decision. Even if the communication between the two had deteriorated to the point that Weaver couldn't stand Greenberg, that's just unprofessional.

Jason, you guys going back to the ACC Championship again this year? I'm starting to be convinced there are no other teams in that Coastal division accept you and Georgia Tech.

I wouldn't rule out North Carolina-- I thought Larry Fedora did an excellent job at Southern Miss, and UNC still has enough talent to beat any team in the Coastal on the right day. But I could definitely see VT making it back to Charlotte. Getting Georgia Tech at home in week one figures to help, but the Clemson-Miami-Florida State stretch late in the season is going to be brutal. Clemson and Florida State will be the favorites to win the league. Virginia Tech's probably the third or fourth choice.

For the first time since 2007, the ACC actually has a legitimate National Title contender in Clemson. I'm sorry, but I just do not see one loss on the schedule. They could very easily go 13-0 with that team, and waltz right into the MNC.
