"I was doing some college basketball research this morning, and I had a chance to take a look at the current 2011-12 North Carolina Yearbook (media guide). This is an official publication from the University of North Carolina Athletics, by the way.

Anyway, in their section on "All Americans", they list players named "honorable mention" in their total. That's hilarious, as the very definition of being named "honorable mention" is that you got close, but didn't quite make it.

For future reference, here are the players merely named "honorable mention" that UNC tries to use to inflate their total:

George Lynch
Derrick Phelps
Ademola Okulaja
Ed Cota
Wayne Ellington"

We have more NCAA titles in the past 30 years than UK. Twice as many, actually. I can live with that...

There are way too many teams in Div-1 that simply don't know how to close out games. Minnesota's bedshit last night wasn't so much stunning as it was painful. Give credit to Iowa, though. They clearly lack for much in the backcourt but they worked the backboards a ton and was able to suck a little less than the Gophers down the stretch.

Same goes for Wisconsin, UCONN, Wyoming... just really bad down-the-stretch offensive play.

Good win by the Heels today. Maryland always seems to get up for the big games. We haven't won up there in forever. Glad to see us hang in there and put it away at the end. We're finally starting to show some toughness. About time. We still need to build on this, but if we can keep this attitude, I think we have a decent shot to make the FF...

This is by far the best Kentucky team since 1996. It will be a tragedy is this awesome Kentucky team does not win the national championship.

UNC should beat Maryland anytime/anyplace this season. Granted, Hedge is right in that the Terps tend to get up for big games, but they don't really have a go-to guy this season and, at least as far as I can tell, their bench is insignificant.

Glad to see Florida beat a quality team at home. Earlier this season, the Gators seemed to do just enough to lose. Maybe they're maturing.

I'm also looking forward to the KU/MU game--an underrated rivalry. It's too bad CMAC ran off Miz-Screw-KU. I'm sure he'd have plenty to say tonight.

CMAC = asshole bully.

Kentucky was just vicious tonight.

First time I've seen the true killer instinct in a UK team in well...since Pitino

a bit surprised the ref called a charge at the end. If there have been like 2 seconds left in the game I bet he wouldn't have

True, eCat....and did you notice the huge number of UK fans at the SC game? ...and this pic only shows part of 'em. Looked like a home Rupp crowd on tv.

Cal was on facebook Friday telling people USC still had tickets for sale.

You never want to hear "Go Big Blue" drowning out your own crowd at a home game.

I had to feel sorry for South Carolina. Getting their ass kicked all over their home court, and by games end the majority of the crowd against them.

UK as a very good team but their weakness is the worse to have in the attorney guard play, and lack of depth there. Lamb and Teague are not great and they have nothing behind those two.
