I'm sure there's some way for me to get a picture from my phone onto here, but I'll be goddamned if I know how to do it...

Journalist Bari Weiss spilled the details of an internal battle at The New York Times over an op-ed piece submitted by Senator Tim Scott during his appearance on her podcast this week.

On the Wednesday episode of her show, Honestly with Bari Weiss, she hosted Scott to talk about his time in the Senate and his life story.

At one point during the conversation, Weiss recalled a story from her time as a writer for Times, a position she departed from in 2020 citing bullying from colleagues and an “illiberal environment.”

The story centered around a behind the scenes debacle in the editing room of the paper concerning Scott.

Scott and his staff had submitted a op-ed about a bill he was working on, the Justice Act. It was heavily aimed at police reform in the wake of the murder of George Floyd.

“I wanna tell you a little story that I’m not sure if you know,” Weiss began, discussing his proposed bill that was endorsed by a range of people including Senator Chuck Schumer.

Scott said the bill eventually fell apart because, “the Democrats really wanted the issue more than the solution.”

“Well, here’s what happened. I was at the New York Times and you or your staff sent in an op-ed about the bill and why it fell apart,” Weiss recalled. “And this is the part I’m not sure if you know. There was a discussion about the piece and whether or not we should run it. And one colleague, a more senior colleague said to a more junior colleague who was pushing for the piece, ‘Do you think the Republicans really care about minority rights?'”

“Wow,” Scott said.

“And the more junior colleagues said, ‘I think Tim Scott cares about minority rights.’ And then, and here’s the pretty shocking part. The more senior colleague said, ‘Let’s check with Senator Schumer before we run it,'” Weiss added.

Turns out 9/11 wasn't the worst security failure in America history after all. Trump is.

It's absolutely hilarious that people still believe this clown will be President again. But hey, it's your money.

Anyone who doesn't want to get on board with the GOP's insurgency is considered radical left. That started before Trump although he has co-opted it for his own use as well.

I blame Palin

McCain knew he needs a hail mary so he brings in that idiot as a VP candidate, she usurps the Tea Party , which up until then was a legitimate fight against the expansive government wing of the GOP, and worse, paved the way for the idea that truck stop waitresses and door dash drivers to believe they were intellectually prepared to lead this country on matters of foreign and economic policy, with a voting base willing to support them. Couple that with the backlash against established party politicians who people had no desire to vote for, but was not going to vote for a liberal and you get what we have now.

Marjorie Taylor Greene and Cawthorns of the party

Agree with all of this. But I guess it doesn't matter. Its votes that count.

For competency at the executive level, we could have had Romney. We SHOULD have had Romney (in either 2008 or 2012.) When we were finally smart enough to nominate him, he ran and lost. Fair and square. Our electorate is not sophisticated enough to vote for the most competent candidate. Obama may be brilliant, a great husband, a tremendous father, and an incredible speaker, but I don't think there is even one thing (not one tiny thing) that he knew better than Romney. And he still won. And before junglerat or hedge or DS fly off the handle, remember guys, it was POTUS Obama (not Governor Romney) who had to have the debate moderator Crowley step in and help him during the debate because Obama was beaten so badly.

Well. It might have taken longer than I expected and hoped for but as I've told you all from the start, Trump will ruin this country and go to prison. I just wish I was right again. About ruining the country. We all knew going in he was a crook.
