Went to see Billy Strings last night at a smallish capacity (7000) amphitheater in Cary last night. I've heard the guy and I recognize that he's very talented, but I've been a little bit skeptical about him. I actually went into the show kinda not wanting to like it or to be like "yeah, he's OK, but I've seen plenty better," but watching him last night, the phrase that kept going thru my head (and I hate this phrase usually) is, "this kid is the truth." I say kid, the guy is 30 years old but he still seems like a kid. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Highly recommend trying to see him if he's anywhere in your vicinity, esp. at a smaller venue. Guy is definitely one of the best guitar players I've ever seen...

That was quite bad, actually. I could probably do a little better myself.

Billy Strings is definitely the goods.

I saw Brothers Osborne last night. Not a country fan, by any means, but they rock a little harder than your standard country act. Didn’t know a single song, other than the Tom Petty tune they covered, but I’d see them again.

There was a lot of Dead tribute stuff at the Grove this past weekend. I’m guessing Bob will be up hanging out playing a little bit the next week or so.

We're in good hands if our Grove overlords are grooving to the Dead...

It’s a group of mainly late 60’s guys from the Bay Area so the Dead is pretty central to many of their histories. It will be interesting to see what band is the soundtrack to the Grove in 15-20 years when my generation is the main group of guys.

I’d love that but I doubt it. Probably more 90s alt stuff.
