anyone who sees the female roles in TD as "limited and predictable" isn't really paying attention.

Most women in porn are portrayed in limited and predictable roles, but I like it...

I am amused with them bringing back 24. It was great and innovative TV when it came out (13 years ago) and had great run among the last generation of network dramas that mattered with shows like Lost. It may even have been the last network drama to win a primetime emmy before the current HBO/Showtime/AMC stranglehold (it was either Lost or 24). Bringing it back now basically because its the last thing they've made that wasn't pure shit and its still got a "brand following" is basically the same thing as CBS needing a new a show and deciding "Hey, lets do another CSI thing!"

The women are definitely kinds of archetypes, used to really mirror Cohle and Marty, in my personal opinion...but it's not like I cared. Honestly, the smaller the writing room, the worse the women turn out on screen. Straight dudes don't write women well and many gay dudes don't either. With all that said, in the defense of TD, nobody on the show except for Marty and Cohle, are really fleshed out. They all are just there to help you understand who these guys are...or who they are pretending to be (I love it how what they say to detectives is not quite lined up with the facts as we see them play out).
McConaughey and Harrelson are the only ones knocking it out the park week after week...and that's enough to make it matter. There are only 2 episodes left, so I think things are switching to rocket fuel next week. Don't IMDB the show, however. It will spoil who the Yellow King is (or get you as close as you can be to finding out before the show airs).

There will be no ill talk of 24 on my watch. Kiefer is a fine actor and this reboot or whatever will be fantastic.
If it goes well then there is hope for other series like Herman's Head. That show needs to be back right now!!

Titus and Greg the Bunny were very good shows. Greg the Bunny should be on Adult Swim now before Robot Chicken. A show just before it's time.

"the press is gonna be pretty hard on you, and prison doesn't take kindly to child murders....if you get the chance...you should kill yourself"
holy shit that is a wicked scene.
Only 2 episodes left and all hell is going to break lose.
I refuse to go to IMDB to get any info.
I did read this from the actress playing Maggie.........
OK, final question: if you had to pick one word to describe how Season 1 of True Detective ends, what would it be?
Staggering.

"Staggering" sounds about right but I don't know if they can pull off having either Cohle or Hart as the Yellow King. I can't see either scenario as plausible.

no effin way is either the yellow king
I also read that the next 2 episodes are strictly based in the present, no more retrospects or police interviews

yeah, I think Cohle pulling Marty over at the end was the signal that their first meeting in 10 years meant the rest of the show would be set in 2012.
I still think Marty's daughter is involved in the shenanigans.

I think the girl Marty just poked in the butt becomes a victim.
