So tell us about your covid journey, eCat. Did you lose taste and smell? Did the Bell's palsey rear its ugly head again?

heh, no

I think its pretty watered down now. It doesn't feel like anything I haven't had before, mostly headache, a bit clammy, sinus drainage and coughing up flem, lasted for about 4 days. I feel ok now. I am going to test again tomorrow morning and I expect it to be negative,I'd like to go back into the office.

"I'd like to go back into the office."

I will admit to never having felt that way...

Anybody else tailgating for the 1pm hearings? I hear Trumps kids might wanna start thinking about their futures? The ones you know about. Not the ones you don't that he either doesn't care about or aborted.

hedge wrote: Mon Jun 27, 2022 10:21 pm I'm probably more willing to have stricter limits on abortion than many pro-choice folks, but who knows? Over 90% of abortions are performed in the first trimester, which seems fine to me. Just over 5% are performed b/w 14 weeks and 20 weeks. I have to believe that many of those cases involve some sort of complication for the mother or discovery that the fetus has some kind of issues (as a side note, do you think it's OK to abort a fetus that will develop into a Downs Syndrome child?). Of the remaining 1% of abortions that are performed after 20 weeks, I believe that most of them are due to complications, either risks to the mother's life or else the child will be stillborn or else severely deformed with no chance of any type of normal life.

Now then, does some malingering airhead just put it off until 18 weeks and then just decides she doesn't want it? I'm sure that happens, but even at 18 weeks, you're talking about a fetus that weighs 5 ounces (at 20 weeks it's 11 ounces). I'll admit that looking at pictures of the 18-20 week fetus, it does look like kinda like a baby, the head and body have formed somewhat and it makes me think why the fuck did you wait this long (in cases where there's nothing wrong with the fetus but the woman was just an idiot or just changed her mind or whatever). But again, I believe that cases like that are in the minority of what is already the vast minority of all abortions performed.

I do not believe that more than a handful of women carry a fetus for 5+ months and then just decide out of the blue, for no other reason than "Whoops, I changed my mind" to have an abortion. If they do, I think that's tragic and wrong, but to stop the other 99+% of women who get abortions based on a handful of dingbats isn't the answer...
Wow. That's a common sense viewpoint. Who the fuck thought that was possible when it pertains to abortion?

If only leaders and the general population felt the same way...

Naw. It makes too much sense DS. Especially to people abortion will never touch. It amazes me that 30% of the population at pro-life yet here we are. If it's up to the states then, which is stupid imo, then put it to a popular vote. Sorta simple.

sardis wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 8:42 am Interesting about Taiwanese Chip makers wanting money to build facilities in US. They could easily get investors, inmho. I really think they don't want to build in US because if you're Taiwan, a monopoly on chip making helps with security from the West. Like Middle Eastern Oil a few decades ago, U.S. will defend the supply based on "national interest"

Apple wants them built here. They're looking to diversify their manufacturing base outside of China, and I would imagine they want diversify from TSMC.

If it's anything like the manufacture of the Mac Pro trashcans in Austin (2013 models forward are assembled there), they're going to have a lot of hiccups early on due to the lack of a suitable workforce already trained and skilled.

When I had it in late December/early January, the staff was praying for me to get back into the office because I was using the uninterrupted time to get all sorts of shit done. Heh

eCat wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 8:54 am living in America, maybe you should follow the amendments a bit better

The Tenth Amendment says that the Federal Government only has those powers delegated in the Constitution. If it isn't listed, it belongs to the states or to the people

you and Elizabeth Warren share the same level of comprehension apparently.
The commerce clause says hello.

It's not a meritless argument. It has a shitload of merit. The problem is that there is decades worth of jurisprudence that gives a wide scope to the commerce clause. There have been some limiting cases, but the commerce clause is like granny's night shirt: it covers damn near everything.

Then again, the hardcore Catholics who are hardcore textualists who know control SCOTUS could give two fucks about stare decisis.

If they can't get those justices on perjury and then impeach them, they're gonna have to stack the court once the blue wave takes November. We all can play games right?
