what I love about our solution to inflation is to raise interest rates so fewer people can afford stuff

that is our government contribution - oh, prices are going up - we need to stop that! I know, lets tank the economy , create a recession and then all the poors who were getting a little money will have that taken away. No more demand, prices have to drop!

what is better? - having a job and can't afford expensive stuff or not having a job and can't afford cheaper stuff.

The vast majority of people are more concerned with their current financial situation than kids being murdered thousands of miles away. That's just a fact.
