Why wouldn't Cashman get the boot? He's not getting the job done by any standard, much less the Yanks.

I think he's getting players there, he just can't pick the manager correctly. I don't know if he's getting pressure from owners to hire ex-Yankees or not, but that's not working.

Let's be honest: outside of the early part of the Martin era and the 96-01 teams, since Steinbrenner bought the club, the team has always had "players" but "couldn't get the right manager." It's a cultural issue that starts at the top in that rotten club.
The only reason the 96-01 teams were great was because Gene Michaels built the core of that club while Steinbrenner was out of baseball. After six or seven years of Steinbrenner's meddling, the Yankees reverted to their dysfunctional norm.

Why start now?

The whole "let's just fill the roster with a bunch of HR hitters" is pretty much the norm in baseball now but the Yanks have been taking it to unnatural extremes for at least a few years. And they were bottom third in runs this year which is a joke. That's the GM not the skipper's fault, not to say the latter shouldn't be pooper scooper'ed out of there as well.

Anyone else surprised when they flashed that stat about how the Braves have the top 3 RBI leaders in the NL, with the asterisk that Machado was tied for 3rd.

That pitch was a meatball as soon as it left the pitcher's hand. Damn.

I wish I had taken LSD instead of watching this fucking football game

Yes, Doc Ellis is a legend in Pittsburgh. My favorite is not the LSD laced no hitter, but the game where he purposefully hit the first 4 batters in the Reds lineup before being taken out of the game in the first inning.
