We found a 2007 Jeep Commander over the weekend that looks showroom new. It's fully loaded, and fully frat. It's a bit of a dad ride, but he loves it.

Take off the camper, and put a lift kit on that King Ranch, though, and it would have been a contender...the body looks good. What year is it?

it was a 2003. I've had 4 other calls on it with in a day after it sold so I guess it was popular.

I wouldn't sell that truck to anyone I knew - even on the internet though.

I've come to believe however that's just owning an American truck though. nothing major, easy to fix, but about every 3 months you just have to swap some part out.

My mistake was thinking their "higher end" truck would be comparable to a Honda or Toyota automobile. Apples and Oranges.

It was a good looking truck though. I'll give it that.

My brother had a brand new King Ranch when he died a few years ago. He was upside down on a Vette when he traded for it, so he was paying a fortune for it.

My poor mom co-signed on it for him, so now she's paying thru the roof for the truck still today.

I would have taken it off her hands to help her out, but damned if I'm paying $800/month for a Ford truck...

Do you guys know about this app called "nextdoor"?

Its like a message board for your neighborhood and it validates whether you actually live where you say you do before it lets you join.

Mostly for us its people asking if they know a good roofer or my kid is willing to babysit.

Last week on the way to work I saw a dead cat in the road. I came back by that way about 2 hours later and it was gone. Its rare to see a dead cat in our neighborhood, like maybe 3 in the 16 years I've been here.

So sure enough about 4 days later a woman posts out there "my cat is missing has anyone seen it?, I live on Willnean" and clearly its her cat. Its a black cat with brown spots , and a white tip on its tail.

I message her privately and tell her "I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but I saw a dead cat on the corner of willnean and whatever street 2 days ago, again, I hate to be the one to tell you but I thought you should know" and she writes me back saying how do you know it was our cat? so I"m like well, it was black with a white tip on tail" and then she says "well I looked that morning and we didn't see it, I don't think its our cat".

whatever - seriously, how many black cats with brown spots and a white tip on its tail - ON THE STREET YOU LIVE - are there that are missing?

I didn't respond anymore. It felt mean to continue the conversation with her.

Nextdoor is high comedy and I'm signed up for it for that reason. Unfortunately my neighborhood is pretty boring compared to others.

Here is a thread making fun of that shit, although the title is about a facebook group to begin with.

that's funny

my sis-n-law turned me on to it and just like that thread, in her neighborhood, its mostly about suspicious people and other meddling.

She told me they ended up calling the police on a kid that lived there with mental issues (couldn't drive and walked everywhere) because they thought he was casing houses.

ours is boring too, and even worse that 90% of it solicitations

The only recent post on mine that isnt a welcome post, HPD/HFD post, or library post is some lady saying she is having trouble with her Pekingese, and needs recommendations on soaps to wash her, and the vets are so expensive.

I dont know if it was that thread or another one, but someone reposted a thread once on texags about some teenage girl who was missing. It ended up that the girl had been at her boyfriend's for a couple hours and wasnt answering her phone. Odd.

Speaking of selling stuff, never sell anything on craigslist to a Gersh Zavodnik...

pro se litigants are the worst kind of nutbags

There is a guy that posts on various Texas Longhorn forums that is that type of nutcase. He especially gets riled up regarding A&M's 12th Man trademark and constantly tries to prove that A&M came to own the mark through fraud and any time it comes up in the news (such as when A&M and the Indianapolis Colts recently settled a dispute over it) he sends all sorts of correspondence and his "case files" to the attorneys opposing A&M and then claims that great news will soon be coming out and A&M is going to be embarrassed and stripped of their trademark and other such nonsense, which of course eventually comes to nothing, leaving the stirred up normal forum types who actually believed him upset and disappointed.

He also spends the rest of his time (or the rest of the time when not suing people and representing himself pro se in real life) trying to prove that A&M is still a branch department of the University of Texas and editing wikipedia pages about A&M and also about the Permanent University Fund, which forms a significant part of the endowment for both universities.
