just reading an article about the Jan 6 committee and what is going on

and while we were talking about tax and Russian collusion, this is foundational to why I believe Trump is not going to face charges of any kind and will never face criminal prosecution

at the end of the day, all politicians , especially presidents, are doing something that is impeachable and likely criminal, if its brought into the light. Trump was an idiot for promoting his criminal actions while the rest of them were astute enough to deny and cover up. But push comes to shove, once that barrier is broken, its open season on every sitting president.

Each one will be mired down in attacks that prevent any progress, and ultimately a changing of the guard each election cycle.

Personally I think Trump didn't commit any crime on Jan 6th by telling people to go down there and peacefully and patriotically...whatever else he said. That peacefully statement is his clearance. It would have to be proven he was intentionally inciting a riot and there is a very high bar to prove that happens from a public speech.

I think they'll make alot of bluster about it to satisfy the people that carry a torch against Trump, and more importantly, attempt to kill any chance he has of running again, but it won't make it to a courtroom.

Now he may have done some other stuff like expecting Pence to declare or Barr to investigate but I would assume that is only criminal if they acted on it

I think Trump will announce he is running, then when it becomes apparent he isn't going to be a fundraising juggernaut he'll get pissed and drop out.

There are alot of people that want Trump to run. None of them are going to send him any serious money though
