Gene Keady and Nolan Richardson are said to have been two of the most demanding coaches when it came to practice. Richardson, you certainly could understand, with that 40 minutes of hell/constantly hawking the ball/up and down the court style, but Keady's must've been from a mere grind 'em out and wear 'em down standpoint. He preferred a bit more rugged, half-court style. Plus, he has a football background.

I suppose Pitino's approach is/was somewhat like Richardson's but not nearly as much as it used to be. In fact, he and Billy Donovan have both dialed down a lot of the full-court defense that they were both noted for earlier in their careers.

Pitino was famous at UK for his hard practices -- morning walkthroughs on game day were supposedly designed to be so tough that the games themselves were considered a cakewalk. It's part of the Pitino conditioning/we will wear you out mystique. Sounds like UofL is turning into a bunch of pussies...

my post doesn't tell the whole story - obviously there was a reason the reporter went with the story about Pitino's practices.

No counting Ware today, Pitino has had 6 players miss more than one game with injuries this year. Buckles has blown out both ACL since his arrival at UL.

Sounds to me like the initial generation of the "everybody gets a ribbon, we don't keep score" kids have finally gotten to college age.

Coach K pulled his team, except the 5 on the court, prior to an anticipated court-rush at FSU in 2006. but nothing much was made of it. of course, he didn't follow up with some story about not knowing there were still 5 players on the court which gave the story another 48 hours of media time.

UL has had to put up signs on campus asking students to stop wearing UK gear to class

That's a bad poster by UL. They are chastising the students wearing the shirts as opposed to the students who (wrongly) taunt. Because of that, it comes across like it condones the taunting. Silly. At Bama there are people who wear Auburn hats and vice versa. There isn't a more hateful rivalry than Bama and those inbreed cocksuckers on the Plains.

That would be like me posting a sign that says, "Ladies DON'T wear a dress to work. This often makes some guys horny. Wearing a dress, or any clothes considered sexy, may get you some unwanted attention. You've been warned!"

I'm now on the new desktop computer that I got for the MIF for Christmas. This thing is even better than my laptop, although it has the disappearing icons problem that I outlined on the MIT thread, which I think is solved. But other than that, this thing is awesome. It was the last one they had and I got it for less than half price ($325). It's got an AMD processor in it, but the guy said it was a good one. Phenom II X4 830, 2.8 GHz, if that means anything to anybody. 6 gigs RAM. This thing is sweet...
