Americas sanctions essentially are targeting wealthy Russians who support Putin as Putin has no direct ties to banking.

America will not target oil , which represents about 45% of Russia's revenue generation because it would heavily impact Europe and they will not cut off access to the financial markets for whatever reason

So while they are cutting off about $38billion in revenue that Putin can control to support the war, the bottom line is Ukraine is going to have to hold out for a very, very long time before Russia really feels the strain of this war.

I think you are right, they will have to hold out for a long time. But if sardis is also right (and Kiev falls in the next 12 hours) then it wont matter.

I doubt Ukraine as a nation as it exists today - they'll be pockets of resistance, will last more than 90 days. We might see a Western Ukraine as a face saving move for the Ukranian government and a cost saving move for Putin, but I suspect any move will require Kyev in Russian control.
