Multiple other SEC teams have players seeking 5th years on their roster, even transfers from other SEC programs. Mitchell cant play for Kentucky because he didnt enter the portal during the window, he just decided to come back and pick any school.

I think its Arbitrary when he was told he didn't have any eligibility left, had he known, I'm sure he would have considered his options differently.

There were 5th year players putting their name in the transfer portal who at the time had zero eligibility left, so they're given the benefit of having the foresight to count on a rule change or judicial ruling?

This isn't a Bryson Warren situation where they guy signed a contract.

Instead of Bryson Warren, we signed Jordan Pope, an intraconference transfer from Texas who is trying to get a 5th year. He had entered the transfer portal.

no idea , I think there may be licensing and royalties that get around direct payment but who knows

Yeah, I’m puzzled, too. Three of our highest paid players are imports. I remember there were some questions around how UK was paying Tshiebwe when this all started. Now? I think the “everyone’s doing it” argument has taken over.
