Watch the end of the game, Roy calls the timeout and walks over to Hamilton. As they were talking Roy motions to his players to leave the court. There is no way they knew what that hand motion meant without Roy telling them before he left the bench.

I would have done the same knowing the floor was going to be rushed. Put the walk ons in. The game was over.
