Concur.

I never would have gone the OKCupid route with an 18 year old dude. aTm is right, any girl with any average+ looks in his age group is getting flooded with emails. He needs to go Tinder and work the swipes. That way he is not feeling his rejection so acutely.

Or, just let him go through this dry spell until he gets to college and joins the beer pong circuit. He doesn't even have to be interesting to get some strange, at that point.

First, online dating (regardless of website) will get him laid if he works it right.

He needs to keep track so he doesn't message the same chick on separate sites. That is rule one.

Rule two: have a standard email you can cut and paste. Some smart chicks will figure this out, but that's great. You don't want them. They'll figure out you're just looking for a fuck and think you're an ass. You want something lower grade intelligence wise. The message should have an introductory paragraph. Talk about job/why you're online/something that makes you look like a great guy (spend a lot of time looking after sick family member--that one makes you look great--working, saving the fucking world, etc. After that, there should be a paragraph where you compliment her attractiveness and then talk about how you really liked what you read and think you would have a lot in common. Finish wish a short closing about how you can't wait to hear back from her.

This makes you seem non-threatening. The girl who is dying to have a relationship and thinks she is above meeting someone to fuck will not be scared off. She is desperate and the inner whore will come out. The down to fuck girl will think you're less likely to have herpes. It also makes you look like you have some type of future.

God. I hope my wife never sees this. She thought that email was sincere, and I felt really bad when she and her sister cried about it after we went to a big dinner party celebrating our engagement. I mean, I thought she was just prey. Then, I found out I loved her.

Lots of truth in that too. I think he needs to work tinder. Online dating is probably best for post college/young professional years.

Heh...you threw that last sentence out there just in case. Excellent hedge, counselor.

well first of all i know its blurred but you guys have to keep the line of demarcation clear

*I'm* not trying to get laid on OKCupid and I doubt my son is either. remember I can't get him to use Tinder. He is all "gotta treat a girl with respect" - he's been indoctrinated now that he is an Eagle Scout

I was about to say he's looking for a girl to hang out with but then I realized he's not, I'm pretty much doing it for him - at least the searching part.

so whatever - I'm getting tired of the couch having a permanent impression of his outline.

"I mean, I thought she was just prey. Then, I found out I loved her."

I'd say the predator becomes the prey more often than not in those situations. Clearly, in your case. See ya at your 50th wedding anniversary. It'll be here before ya know it...

Tell him to get a job this summer as a life guard. He will get to see plenty of girls and will probably work with a few hot ones as well.

You can go that respect route with Tinder, too. It's just a platform. To me, it feels like how people would criticize meeting someone in a bar. Yep, you can go full "hookup" via a bar, or find the love of your life. At the end of the day, my money is on Tinder being the best platform for someone his age.

Mr. Cosgrove thinks of Tinder as an icebreaker, since it can ease the stress of approaching a woman. “If I saw my wife in a bar, I would have been too intimidated to approach her,” he said. Knowing that she had already swiped right reassured him that she found him attractive, which he said gave him more confidence on their first date.

Aimee Denaro, a real estate broker who lives in the East Village, never thought she’d meet a husband on Tinder in 2013. “I had tried Match.com and eHarmony, but I never found any normal guys there,” she said.

hmmm

well maybe that would be the ego boost he needs.

last night he watched the ending of that 30 for 30 with me and he was telling me how tough it was on guys nowadays and how a girl can just claim rape and ruin a guys life

I told him that ain't shit - trying being a teenager during the aids crisis. If you had sex with a slutty girl you would die. That was my teenage years.

(then I explained to him that its actually very tough on a woman to claim rape like a good father should)

The bridge will probably collapse in five years, but the machine the Chinese invented to install it is pretty cool.

so I pitched him the advice on here

updated his profile pic to be a little more Rico and a lot less Gomer, he picked out a cute little number, wrote some long ass message throwing in pieces of her profile, told her that her pic jumped off the screen at him and boom - 10 minutes later she checked out his profile and sent him a message.

so there's hope afterall.

That bit of progress only took 2 hours of prodding on my part.

While he was messing around with the first message, 2 other girls (his age range) checked out his profile.

But he also agreed to download Tinder on his phone.

That will be an adventure in itself
