Engineers have never been known for their mastery of the Engrish langrage.
I saw Beamer's post-game "inspirational" locker room rally cry, and like Bowden many years ago, it's time for him to go. The ACC needs VT to be a Top 25-ish team and I just don't see the current staff there getting that done. Foster's a competent DC but as a whole they aren't getting the job done.

The Coastal is a mess. Miami is never going to be "Miami" unless the school administration has a change of heart and decides to start admitting car thieves and drug dealers again. VT's entire staff is over the hill and I question if they are ever going to be a regular top 15 fixture. Georgia Tech's academics are simply too demanding to allow it to be a TOp 25 mainstay. Leaves you with Duke, UNCheat, Spitt, and Virginia. Good luck.

True dat, DSL. When Louisville was admitted, they should have put them in the Coastal and put GT in the Atlantic. GT has a rivalry tradition with FSU and Clemson, and Louisville would have given that division a Top 25-type team most years (they are struggling to replace 10 NFL draftees this year but will rebound next year).

They certainly have it going on this year. It's strange to think they'd be in playoff position if Marquise doesn't shit the bed in South Carolina's red zone three times but they've played so well they would have earned it.

Still would've been a long shot, given how bad SC is and how weak our schedule has been, but we'd probably be sniffing the top 10 by now if we were undefeated. If we could win out and beat Clemson in the ACC championship (combined with a win over SC), it would've been interesting, but I still doubt our resume would've gotten us into the playoff. At any rate, I doubt we could hang with, say, Alabama, but I wouldn't be quaking in my boots against, say, Notre Dame or Ohio State. All in all, it's a nice little season for UNC football. If the chips fall right, I could see us beating Clemson, although I'd say they'd beat us 7 or 8 times out of 10. Our defense is greatly improved over last year (how could it not be?), but they'd still get pummeled by a real offense. But man, our offense can move the ball. Fun season for Tar Heel fans...

Long shot? Not really. UNC would be #7 right now if undefeated. And Iowa or anOSU will have a loss by the end of the season (I could frankly see 2 losses for each of them happening), and beating Clemson would put UNC at worst #3 (they'd jump Notre Dame, Okie State, and Clemson) and probably be #2 or #3...but certainly in the Top 4.
And yes, Bama would roll them but Bama is going to roll everyone in the playoffs. Their front 7 is as good as there has been in the last 20 years and once the DB situation is settled they'll be fine there too.

I think you're right. I didn't notice that we had jumped to #12 in the AP poll this week. If we had beaten SC and all the other games had fallen in the same fashion as they in fact have, we'd easily be top 10 by now and probably, as you said, closer to #5. I won't go so far as to say it's all smoke and mirrors with this UNC team, b/c our offense is legit. But our defense, while improved, will be in for a rude awakening if we play anybody with a truly great offense, esp. a great running game (see: Alabama). Still, it's been a fun season so far...

No one is looking forward to a game with UNC right now.

I felt like (certainly hoped) the SC game was an error filled aberration and that has been, mostly, borne out. Our defense is adequate (secondary better than expected, D-line not so much), but not championship caliber. But if your offense is clicking like our has for most of the year, it masks alot of problems on defense. On the other side, we haven't really played a truly dominant defense this year. Not sure what would happen if we ran into one like Bama's or (ahem) BC's. Somehow I think we'd be in for a rude awakening...

Henry could run for 400 yards on our D, and that's not an exaggeration...

You got cocked. Not like it hasn't happened before. I heard you liked it.
FYI. UNC will never be ranked as high as #5 in football. Ever.

they would have to soften up their OOC even further to have a chance at that....

I guess your drinking erased your memories from the 90's and early 80's.
I am worried shitless about the next two games. VT will be on an emotional high, and though they have struggled, they have talent. State will be up for us with nothing to lose and plenty of talent.

Yeah he switched from being anOSU fan to a VT fan after the cHokies whipped 'em last year. Timing kinda sucked.

NCSU will be a challenge. Their defense is pretty good and Brissett is a grown-ass-man. We were able to contain him because our DL played very well but UNC doesn't have that luxury. You're lucky the VT game isn't a Thursday night one - I'd definitely go with VT in that scenario but early Saturday? I think UNC loses their second in Raleigh.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. What happened to the late 80s?

The NCState game will be a revenge game for us. They beat us pretty badly last year in Chapel Hill, I hope we return the favor this year...
