That was pretty damn close to the conversation I was having with a friend while we watched the game.

Who'dve thunk we would need the annual Greed Game to clinch a bowl, and that even at 6-6, we'll play on Jan 2 in the Gator Bowl.

I think you'll beat us in Hogtown, as much as it pains me, so you'll end up 7-5. And still probably in the Gator.

Our offense is a mess right now, and your defense is good enough to get some turnovers from it. Miami gave a blueprint for how to beat our defense (though you don't have an RB as good as Miller). If it weren't for ST, Miami would have beaten us (awful officiating notwithstanding) and your ST is a ton better than UM's. Add in the facts that it's a home game and that your team will have more motivation, and I foresee us losing in frustrating fashion.

The defense is good enough to hold a non-Top 10 team to around 17 points in a game. Problem is the offense can't score more than 17 points on anyone better than Vanderbilt. FSWho has some flaws and with the game in the Swamp, there is a chance - but this OLine inspires no confidence in getting it done.

Tebow won me over last night. Champ too from the look of it. It's impossible not to admire him.

Say what you will; this world needs a lot more Tim Tebows.

GG, SG, et al (except bandwagon):

Answer honestly, are you bitter Urban Meyer jumped ship? It seems to me that he did not like what the crystal ball said about future crystal footballs at UF with Saban, Miles, Petrino, Chizik and Fisher holding positions at rival schools and competitors for a title. He also had to recognize that UGA and UT would inevitably improve as well. So, do you think he is a lying sack of shit that used his family and heart condition to get out of Gainesville Seinfeld style, or do you really, truly believe that one year off working for ESPN all around the country gave him the quality family time he needed to get his health back?

IMHO, Urban Meyer is a gutless bitchboy. OSU will dominate until it gets tough, then Notre Dame here he comes! What a total douche.

He's an Ohio guy who always dreamed of coaching Ohio State. What's wrong with that? As a true Gator fan of over 37 years I'm not really upset about it. That being said if his health issues were really that bad, I don't see him coaching the full 7 years as reported.

Not bitter at all. Meyer came here and delivered a pair of SEC and BCS titles in a 6 year run, and was 10-2 against our main rivals. Sure I wish he had stayed around a bit longer, but only if his heart (both the physical and metaphysical) was fully up to the task. It was obvious last year that he did not have the internal fire so leaving was the right thing to do just as it was for Spurrier when he realized he wasn't coaching on a full tank.

Yeah it looks shitty if he suddenly jumps into the OSU or any other bigtime coaching gig just a year after all the talk he made about health and family, but he's a big boy and that's on his personna -- he's not UF's concern anymore. I thank him a lot what he did for the Gators, critique him a little for letting things unravel a bit at the end, and wish him well in whatever he does next (unless it is contrary to UF's interests).

Do Gator fans blame this season more on Meyer or on Muschamp?

I blame this season's results on a craptastic OLine, the one segment of any team you cannot hide. Muschamp doesn't get any blame yet until we see who he gets (and keeps) on the team in the next few years.

Neither.

I'm with Ghost. No bitterness or hard feelings. Good luck to him!

As my son said, he will build a winner until he loses each year in the bowl game against an SEC team!

Interesting. I kind of expected a LSU to Saban type reaction. I guess that it is a little different because he is going to another conference and to the premier school in the state where he grew up, and I understand it is hard to resent someone who was so tremendously successful for the school.

The family and health excuse is what bothers me more than anything. At least Spurrier was up front with the Gator Nation that he was bored and ready to move on to something else. That took guts and integrity. I may despise what Spurrier has done to Georgia football, but I respect the man and love him as a coach. Urban, not so much.
