"just another example of the guy you guys voted for being just like the guy he replaced."

I know you don't believe that. Actually that's not a matter of belief, you know that isn't true...

He knows 2022 will not be good for the Dems.

He does have to keep a promise. He's being reminded of it already.

I'm sure Mitch will find some way to stop this and leave the seat open for 2 years (or 6 years, or however long it takes) until a repub is in office again. Talk about packing the court...

I wasn't all over it rat. You guys beat me to it. Does K-Mart even exist anymore? If so, how many fish are there to shoot?

I'm actually okay with it. Whoever Biden appoints, he'll get like 90+ yes vote from the Senate because (unlike democrats voting for Republican appointments) Republicans actually vote yes for democrat Supreme Court appointments. Ask Lindsay he voted for both Kagan and Sotamoyor.

I'll bet you any amount you want that whoever Biden appoints won't get 90+ votes from the Senate...

52-48. It was very close.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_ ... nomination

They almost Bork-ed him. Even then Republican Jim Jeffords voted no. Then Jeffords became a democrat. All told, 7 democrats voted aye.

When they interviewed Senate democrats David Boren, Sam Nunn, and John Breaux, they told the local media that they weren't sure how they were going to go until the Anita Hill fiasco. When they listened to this woman take the stand and ramble on incoherently, they said they would have been embarrassed to vote no against Thomas, a respected black justice.

I don't think we have that kind of an independent thinking Senate anymore, not when my Senator and Manchin are being threatened with primary challengers and being removed from Emily's list for sticking with a filibuster.
