So the MIF goes to see the doctor yesterday, he says she's got what looks like the beginnings of pneumonia. Caught it quick, gave her some antibiotics and some other shit, she seems to feel better today. I still have to wonder if none of this would be happening if she'd gotten vaccinated, but of course now is not the time to bring that up, and I haven't. But the fact is, we'll never know, there's no way to know. People's systems are different, but she's in far better shape than I am (not that I'm in bad shape, but she's in better shape) and it's obvious she got the same strain as I had (almost certainly she got it from me, I'm the only person she's been around since Christmas) and I barely felt like a had a cold and it only lasted a few days. I did lose taste and smell, but that's nothing, I actually kinda enjoyed that in a "damn, that's wild" kinda way (but I'm glad it's mostly back now).

She signed up to get monoclonals on Sunday, they called her today and after talking to her for 5 minutes they said she doesn't qualify. I guess it's b/c of low supplies, but they're evidently saving them for the most at risk people. I emailed that place DS told me about in Fayetteville, the actual doctor there emailed me back, which impressed me (well, I assume it was the actual doctor, it had "MD" by his name in his email), he said "We are down to less than a dozen doses. We are saving them for the most high risk patients. I wish we had enough to give them to everyone who wanted them and qualified like we had a month ago. Does she have any other major health conditions?", I told him that fortunately she was in pretty good shape besides the covid (and I knew she wouldn't lie and claim some major health issue anyway), he wrote back "I wish we could give them to everyone. Let's trust that this will be short-lived and she will be fine very soon. Please keep an eye on her. Seems like you are doing all of the right things."

Anyway, that's the daily MIF update. I think she's going to be fine, her oxygen levels are still high and she didn't have any fever this morning. I can't wait for her to get better so I can ream her about not getting vaccinated...

I'm glad I had that cordial email exchange with the doctor at DS's place, if she really does start going downhill (which I don't think is going to happen, but if) I feel like I've got a rapport with this guy and he might be able to help us out. But again, I hope and don't think it's going to come to that...

He seems like a decent guy, and he has made a fucking mint during the pandemic with testing sites and treatments.

my son works a hotel front desk, my wife works with special needs kids in a big high school (meaning they blow snot, piss themselves, whatever and she has to deal with it) and frankly I"m amazed that neither of them has caught it. My son went on a cruise with my daughter the week before Xmas so we're just tempting fate now.
