We need to have a grass roots campaign where Dylan McDermott is Archer in a full length movie.

He can't pull off the comedy, though.

Did you see The Campaign?

No, but you're like the third person that (allowing me to be presumptuous) has made a reference to it as funny.

No one has asked me how my hand is. That baby had a jaw of steel.

The Campaign is very under rated as a comedy.

He started down that path with The Antichrist, same actress and Willem Dafoe in full-on close up penetration sex. The actress, Charlotte Gainesbourg is the daughter of Serge Gainesbourg, a french musician from the 60's. I think she's done some records herself. She's pretty hot I think...

I wonder if that will be a good career move for Shia LaBouffe. I can see him in a playboy interview 5 years from now talking about how he knew it was a risk but he believed in the movie and doesn't care if it derailed his career.

Hard to think that a Lars von Trier movie could derail a career. He's like a postmodern Woody Allen with a little porn thrown in. But I like most of his stuff...

I can't see how that movie will be mainstream.

It won't be. None of his are. But he's got enough rich buddies to keep funding his efforts and enough cache to keep getting big names to play in his movies. Again, kinda like Woody Allen, although admittedly Woody Allen is more mainstream and his movies probably all at least make back a little more than they cost...

I hated Antichrist and the genital smashing scene so much that I am posting this pic to wash that movie scene from my mind:

Much like your post, it wasn't his best effort, but it appears he's going to be a bit more free-wheeling (to say the least) with this latest effort. Antichrist was too... something. Dour, trying to be serious, I don't know. But you're right, it wasn't very enjoyable...

Just watched Goodfellas. It kept my interest, but I don't think it's ever going to make my top 10. Still hit a little too close to home, on several fronts. Best parts were when the asshole Joe Pesci got popped and the Sid Vicious version of "My Way" at the end. Perfectly a apropos...
