and while we may disagree on what journalism is

the government does not get to make that distinction. The government doesn't get to decide what the media is and is not. Nor does the government get to prosecute on the disclaimer that printed (whatever that means in 2021) material must have the consent of the originator, because if that were the case, then it wouldn't be journalism, it would be propaganda.

By any definition of media, P.V. meets the standard of journalism.

you don't like them because its gonzo journalism against the Democratic party.

if they were going after Trump, you'd be singing their praises.

Go back and watch 60 minutes back in its heyday. They did the same type of journalism.

and in this case, they have more journalistic integrity than the NYT. Part of the documents released was them seeking legal counsel on what lines they could not cross.

This whole thing stinks and worse, the NYT is willing to allow the DOJ and FBI to set precedent against their own best interest to get a pro left wing story.
No. You’re wrong.

Attempting to infiltrate Democratic congressional campaigns, being associated with that piece of shit Eric Prince, disbursing heavily edited videos that are misleading at the very least, getting nailed for defamation, spreading vaccine disinformation, coordinating the release of unverified claims with right wing politicians/groups and all sorts of other bullshit isn’t journalism. It’s right wing propaganda pushed via pieces of shit on the right like Prince and DJTJr.

The government has NO AUTHORITY (none) to define who an investigative journalist is, and one who isn't. They don't get to do that. And YOU don't get to do that either, counsellor.

Without Project Veritas being sneaky and recording Amy Robach unknowingly, we would NOT have had this

40 seconds and in, all Project Veritas, ALL investigative journalism. ABC/Disney sat on that. Will not report it. Amy will not discuss it. But you and I and ALL OF US need to know these things about the Royal family DS.

No, the government has no authority. They are the press and (according to our Constitution) have the right to report and investigate. You just don't like what they are investigating because they are picking on people that YOU like. That's all. There is nothing more to it than that.

You ignorant fuck, the overwhelming majority of states have "reporter shield laws" that protect reporters in certain situations and those statutes define who constitutes a reporter.

The Constitution is federal. It doesn't matter what the overwhelming majority of states have or don't have. So your point is moot. I write at the Goat Pen, and that makes me a member of the press. And if that isn't good enough for you, I have a blog so I am a member of the press. Which state gives me a reporter shield law?

What WOULD matter is you citing a case (ANY case in ANY state) where someone reports on something and that person is sued/prosecuted for reporting the news because they didn't have the AUTHORITY to report it, and then that person winds up LOSING the case. Kindly cite that case, counsellor. Because then your "reporter shield law" might make a difference.

As far as I know, the only people who would lose those kinds of cases is when a member of the press reports on something that didn't happen or isn't true. I don't think Amy Robach or ABC News ever sued Project Veritas for recording Amy. They would have lost that case. Same is true for Dan Rather and CBS News NOT suing Little Green Footballs. LGF had the AUTHORITY to ruin Dan Rather's career by publishing, which they did. By the same token, the Washington Post (a newspaper) was worried that they would be prosecuted by the federal government when they went to publish the Pentagon Papers in 1971 because you can't report on ANYTHING that puts the lives of military personnel in danger with the information you report (and with good reason.)

The laws have been challenged and upheld.

Your understanding of constitutional law is limited on your best day.

Your statement was that government cannot / does not define what a journalist is. I explained why you were wrong.

Your pseudo-intellectualism is nothing but a thin veneer poorly masking your ignorance, craving to be relevant and hair-brained belief in conspiracy theories. The only person you may fool with this schtick is your own self because you are too ignorant to grasp the fact that you are stupid.

Stick to cargo shorts, twink porn, erotic fiction and your uber business and stfu.

The Constitution IS "The Law." You have not named even ONE CASE where someone (who was NOT a journalist) reported on something that actually happened, and they were prosecuted and sent to jail for what they reported. And you are not going to because (according to the Constitution) NO ONE has the AUTHORITY to define who is and who is NOT a journalist. The reporter shield laws in the majority of states, that is redundant. Its kind of like the ERA, women already have the 14th Amendment, they don't need another one.

The NPPA is a 501c. It is NOT a government agency granting a journalist the AUTHORITY to report the news. No such government organization to give a journalist a "credential" exists. Because to create such an organization would be pointless. We ALL have the right to report anything (so long as we don't get someone killed doing so.)

Little Green Footballs reported that the document that Dan Rather said that President Dubya broke the law back in 1972, was fraudulent, because that was a "Microsoft Font." That cost Rather his career and embarrassed CBS. No one was sued. No one was charged with a crime, and no one went to prison. Who gave Little Green Footballs the AUTHORITY to publish that news that corrected the garbage that Rather published? I'll give you a hint counsellor, no one.

I don't drive for Uber. I rent cars on Turo. Get your news reporting correct counsellor, or I will sue.

I think you might be right.

As far as I know, O'Keefe hasn't been arrested since 2010. So, if this was all bait for Garland to go get a warrant to break into O'Keefe's house, that just another reason why its great that Cocaine Mitch didn't give an inch in 2016 and let him get on the court.

I suppose they could charge him but if they are going to prosecute, then they better be able to prove O'Keefe stole the diary. Otherwise, he'll happily go to court and tell the government to "prove it." And they wont be able to. Its been 18 days since they broke into his house. I think if they were going to charge him, they would have already. I think they just want to "scare him" into shutting up and closing down his operations. In that sense, its no different than Garland going after parents who give school board members a hard time for the CRT horseshit.
