Do me a favor. This weekend, instead of using your toilet, you and your family use the bathtub. Keep it plugged. Throw all your garbage in it too. Spoiled milk, eggs, televisions whatever. Fill the rest halfway with really warm water. Monday morning take a bath in it and go to work. Hey, you'll still be cleaner then our Olympians in Rio.

On the bright side, this is making Haiti seem like an attractive resort destination...

If you had a large population of Haitians living near you, the only bright side would be them moving somewhere else...

There is a Haitian proverb that goes, "a beautiful funeral does not guarantee heaven."

I wish I could guarantee your funeral.

I can guarantee that I will have a funeral. I can also guarantee you will drink cheap blended scotch diluted by large quantities of tap water...

I am guessing b/c DS mentioned Haiti. Had he mentioned, say, Peru, it would've been a Peruvian proverb...

Two choices:

1) My knowledge of the wisdom and sayings of impoverished Caribbean nations is legendary.

2) It just so happened that I was watching Netflix as I read that and a character on the show "Jessica Jones" mentioned the proverb as I read that post.

No, Google seems to confirm it's a Hatian proverb.

I took it to mean that if DS mentioned Peru, you would have had a classic Peruvian nugget (adequately translated, like you translated the funeral one from French). Your response, however, let's me know that #2 is definitely the answer to your previous post.

Yes, it was totally a Netflix night, and the "Jessica Jones" thing is actually what happened. As an aside, I wanted to like the show, but the fact that no one thought of earplugs with the villain "Kilgrave" bugs me.
