Hacksaw completely indignant over the poor not paying their "fair share". Raise taxes on the poor first, scream conservatives. Kinda proves the point of the editorial

And of course, when Republicans blame the poor and lower-middle class for not paying enough and putting too much of a burden on the wealthy, that's NOT "class warfare". Republicans don't do "class warfare", therefore bitching about the poor can't possibly be that.

Foont? Is that you? "Republicans whine and Republicans bitch, our rich are too poor and our poor are too rich."

The people at the bottom aren't paying enough. RAISE TAXES ON THE BOTTOM THIRD. The new Republican mantra.

There was a time when Republicans opposed all new taxes. No longer.

And I think Foont offed himself when they ended the shuttle program

Until fairly recently, Republicans, at least, have been fairly consistent in their position that tax cuts should benefit everyone. Though the Bush tax cuts were primarily for the rich, they did lower rates for almost all taxpayers, providing a veneer of egalitarianism. Then the recession pushed down incomes severely, many below the minimum income tax level, and the stimulus act lowered that level further with new tax cuts. The number of families not paying income tax has risen from about 30 percent before the recession to about half, and, suddenly, Republicans have a new tool to stoke class resentment.

First, the facts: a vast majority of Americans have skin in the tax game. Even if they earn too little to qualify for the income tax, they pay payroll taxes (which Republicans want to raise), gasoline excise taxes and state and local taxes. Only 14 percent of households pay neither income nor payroll taxes, according to the Tax Policy Center at the Brookings Institution. The poorest fifth paid an average of 16.3 percent of income in taxes in 2010.
A few indisputable facts:

1) Even Oprama's own appointed debt commission stated the need of a "broader tax base" in order to balance the budget.

2) The expiration of the Bush tax cuts will cause much more taxes for the poor than the expiration of Oprama's tax cuts

3) The higher regressive gas and state sales tax are more encouraged by Dems than Republicans.

4) You can tax the top 1% of earners at 100% and still not balance this budget.

5) The NY Times, Krugman, and most Dems are grasping on to dear life to an archaic economic theory....

Wiz,

Rec'd your email. Here are my responses:

1. No, I do not know what kind of cream to use to help with "cooties."

2. No, I do not think of you 'that' way.

3. No, I did not know that Gramps was a boy dog.

4. No, I do not think gladiator movies are erotic.

5. Yes, I was aware that "Dr." Tom was a pedophile.

6. Yes, I did know that the University of Alabama is ranked higher academically than Nebraska by USN&WR.

Your Friend (not really),
AA

To summarize the above:

1. Republicans love rich people and generally dislike poor people, whom they blame for being poor.

2. Democrats love poor people and generally dislike rich people, except for the ones that contribute mightily to Democrat campaigns, and/or rich people from Hollywood.

And I won't be convinced that's really Wiz unless he says "STFU" a few dozen times.
