I never thought about it until reading this but I actually say Kroger's if I'm buying multiple items, and if I'm just going there for one thing I say "the Kroger"
after reading this stuff I realize how fucked up that is.
We actually have two Kroger's in our town so I might also say "the" Kroger if I'm talking about the one closest to my house as opposed to the one out on route 28.

I say Krogers no matter how many items I buy. I'm lol'ing at the Kroger for one item. At least one thing, your wife will know to expect you coming home soon if you say the Kroger.

There is nothing wrong with saying Kroger's anymore. The word "supermarket" is assumed after you say "Kroger's". And we all do this now because of the nefarious plot started by Ray Krok. Cheap hamburgers aren't his legacy; this is. May he rot in hell hotter than 10,000 fry vats!
