Re: Florida State Seminoles
I think there is something inherently American about protesting your government directly.
I don't really see the January 6th people as patriots but based on how its represented , they were acting on behalf of a sitting president to go after corrupt politicians , and that is deemed as an act of insurrection by the parties in support of the corrupt politicians.. They, the protestors or whatever you want to call them, believed the election was stolen, voting was corrupt and it was protected by corrupt politician who unsuccessfully attempted to impeach and remove a duly elected sitting president twice.
What would the founding fathers think of this? I think they'd be pretty sympathetic to the cause at face value.
Now should people be punished for their actions on January 6th? Absolutely in the clearest sense of the law , B&E, Trespassing, Theft, Public Intox - the list is long
Insurrection? Treason? Domestic Terrorism? If you're adamant about going there, then understand there will be a lasting legacy to framing it in that way, and like all things, it will come full circle during regime change.

That ship has already sailed. I guarantee you if the repubs win the House next year, Biden will be impeached, or attempted to, anyway, and quickly...

That's funny. Plenty of repubs are already calling for Biden to be impeached. If they take the House, it'll happen. They'll attempt it, anyway...

I wouldn't impeach him. In fact, I would get every other Republican in the House to go along with me and vote NO on any impeachment vote. I could sell that argument real easy:hedge wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 11:07 am "Insurrection? Treason? Domestic Terrorism? The democrats would have to do it, throw their own under the bus. And they would have to vote almost entirely unanimously. Fat chance that happens.congressman IB wrote:Hey, they voted for him. They are STUCK with him. Let our President remain in the White House where he can continue to piss and shit himself. This is THEIR (their = any and all people who voted for Biden in the primary and general election) fault. The republicans all voted for the competent President in November of 2020, we have a clear conscience. The democrats can live with the guilt and consequences of their actions all their lives.

If you can really say with a straight face (and evidently, you can) that you have a clear conscience for voting for Trump, and furthermore that you think he was competent, do you really believe that any democrat is going to have a molecule of guilt over Biden??

Re: Florida State Seminoles
I find this is total horseshit. Based on the media attacks on GOP you'd think that Florida and Texas lead the death rates of Covid 19. They aren't even in the top 20
Is New York and New Jersey Trump country? Why isn't the media attacking the leadership in these states for leading the country in deaths ?
July 31 and the Delta Variant is pretty selective at the moment given its more contagious and less deadly

the distinction is the July 31 caveat. So in 30 days the twitter response is saying that GOP led policies - specifically in GOP voting states - is wreckless. Its 30 days of data points on a variant that is highly contagious.

Don't blame the GOP, the party runs to align with their constituents. People in those states value independence and thus their government leaders do not make constituents get vaccinated if they want to keep their job. The risk of death is ok with these people as long as they keep their independence, you should be ecstatic they are deciding to put their life at risk.

I just heard of a third person in a week I know who is 60 and decided not to get the vaccine who is now on death's door. I don't agree with foregoing vaccination, but I respect their decision of not doing it. It's their life.

Re: Florida State Seminoles
People are ignorant and are generally not able to assess risks in general. People are always making dumb decisions like this because the overestimate their own intelligence, or believe the wrong rumors, etc. They are not any dumber than other people I know who have been living like a shadow of a life for over a year because they are too afraid to live.
I read an article or a facebook post or something the other day where a distraught woman basically went into a meltdown about anti-vaxxers and things like that who had basically murdered he father who was unable to be vaccinated for some reason, and like basically she hadnt seen her father for a year and a half or whatever before he got sick, and I'm like...I get it, there was a danger for him, but I simply cannot imagine how I'd feel if I didnt get to spend like the last Christmas, Thanksgivings, birthdays, etc with a family member because we were all too scared to live and do those things.

Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.
