I learned tonight that the SoCon predates the ACC and SEC. In fact, in1922 the conference had Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Maryland, Miss State, NC, NC State, Tennessee, Florida, Vanderbilt, LSU, Tulane. The ultimate super conference.

SEC broke off in 1932 and the ACC in 1953.

Yep. The 1924 North Carolina White Phantoms National Champions beat Kentucky 41-20 in that old Southern Conference Tournament.
