WASHINGTON, Aug 20 (Reuters) - The FBI has found scant evidence that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result, according to four current and former law enforcement officials.
I guess it was just one of those "spontaneous insurrections" you hear about...

OK, 2nd degree murder or manslaughter instead of first degree murder or RICO. Boy, what a relief!

Well, on that front, that seems pretty difficult since there's actually only one person who died of any sort of homicide and they were shot by the police. All other deaths the media initially told us about were later determined to be drug overdoses or deaths from natural causes.

I was referring to your glee that it wasn't an organized planned plot (such as, e.g., first degree murder or ongoing criminal enterprise) rather than just a run of the mill spontaneous attempt at insurrection (crime of passion, e.g., 2nd degree murder or manslaughter). Try to keep up...

I knew it wasn't an "organized plot" from day 1 (unlike the FBI apparently), hence my quote of my post from back then.
It was a riot, and should have been dealt with like one in the same way that other riots over the past decade should have been dealt with and weren't.

btw, surely I'm very late to the game in making this connection
this idea that is was some organized insurrection has always been absurd. Replace the capital building with a liquor store and you couldn't tell the difference between it and some BLM/Antifa bullshit that got out of control
When BLM made a speech in Minneapolis that resulted in cops getting shot in Dallas, no one was talking about domestic terrorists - well I was...but you know, nationally no one was.
its all Trump hatred and anything associated with it.

I mean, I can understand the FBI's initial sense that it was "organized" since according to that Reuters article...
FBI investigators did find that cells of protesters, including followers of the far-right Oath Keepers and Proud Boys groups, had aimed to break into the Capitol
... and its extremely likely that a significant number of the members of those organizations are actually FBI informants judging by the the results of the Michigan "kidnap the governor" investigation. In the sense that it was sorta "planned" it is a possibility that FBI assets were actually involved in the planning of it.

exactly. The Jan 6th "insurrection" was nothing of the sort. There was no organization to overthrow the government. And I think even the FBI knew that (knew it the way Nifong knew from day one that the 3 Duke Lacrosse players were totally innocent.)
Much like the Duke Lacrosse case, the Jan 6th "investigation" was a political witch-hunt, not all that different than the Trump-Russia-Collusion investigation. It was all just politics, nothing more. The FBI had to do "something" because politics demanded that they "act" and find "something." But given what happened with Strzok and that homewrecking cvnt Lisa Page (who should be disbarred if she isn't already) the FBI knew going in that if they couldn't prove anything very quickly, they better be open and upfront that they didn't have a case.
as eCat said, all just Trump hatred, nothing else

Did e really just compare the Capitol of the United States to Moe's Liquor Store?

Just b/c it wasn't organized and, further, that most of the participants were amongst the fringe-iest members of the cult of Trump, doesn't mean that it wasn't an illegal attempt to overturn the results of a legal election. Now if it had been an attempt to overturn, say, the election of the dogcatcher in Possum Gulch, KY, yeah, I'd agree that it wasn't that big of a deal. But to compare it to looting a liquor store or some such is just willful ignorance IMO. Or else just the flip side of the "its all Trump hatred and anything associated with it," i.e., "the liberals did bad shit during the BLM protests, so I'm not even going to look at the actual facts of this situation, I'm just going to put my fingers in my ears and say that this is the exact equivalent of looting a liquor store in Peoria, it doesn't matter that this was an attack on the US Capitol, that's not important, blahblahblah."

Moe's liquor store was all that Joe had and it was burned to the ground and Moe (who no longer had any income) saw his wife divorce him and he had to file bankruptcy. None of the hoodlums who burned his liquor store will ever be charged. They will never be charged because they were all wearing masks (not unlike the KKK.)
Nancy Pelosi was embarrassed that some asshole (who WAS charged and WILL go to prison) broke into her office and put his feet up on her desk. The only reason the asshole is going to prison is because he was brave but moronic enough to take selfies of himself with his feet on her desk. But her unpaid interns had the whole place cleaned up and maintenance had the broken window in the door to her office replaced in an hour. No one lost a paycheck, let alone, a business.

Yeah, you've said that before. Yesterday you said I had no human feelings because I corrected a misguided girl on policy regarding student loan debt. Your words are starting to fall on deaf ears hedge.
My logic is sound. All the anger directed towards what happened on Jan 6th is purely politics. Don't get all self-righteous or indignant with me. I don't want to hear it.
