Absent 8-20, Hubert survives this season. Next season will be win or go.
If we don’t beat Florida and UCLA, that’s 6-6 in non conference, most likely. The 8-20 team went 4-6 outside the ACC. We’re not making the tournament with 4 McDonald’s All-Americans, including a returning 5th year 1st team All American and ACC POY who can’t make a fucking wide open layup, much less a three pointer.

I think the stark fact is that it's all about money now. You're just going to have to buy the best players. The blue bloods may have a smidge more cache than other schools, but that's just going to be the cherry on top of anyone who commits to a blue blood school to go along with the caaaaaaiiiiiissshhhhh....

Who's your dream hire, Anti k?
Raquel Welch in her prime.
As for Carolina Basketball, we need to look at what the football program finally realized. Modernize or die. There are a lot of coaches I like, but we’ve got to get away from this “ONLY Carolina Fambly” requirement, man. We were the kings of churning outt NBA All Stars. Our last one is already in the Hall of Fame.
Not dodging your question. Let me give it a good think.

While I’m thinking, I’d like to propose a trade…
Bill Belichick for Brad Stevens

Out of coaching pick:
1. Stevens
2. Wright
Old guard active:
1. Self
2. Few
3. Sampson
4. Pitino (I’d offer him Belichick’s 24 year old chick)
5. Pearl (see Pitino)
Younger active:
1. Hurley
2. Oats
3. Painter
4. Drew
I have no scruples. I want to WIN!

I "met" Brad Stevens at the Celtics/Hornets game. I was sitting in my friend's seats six rows off of the court, saw someone sit down three seats over and it was Brad Stevens. He was trying to be discreet but Celtics fans (half of the arena) started coming up to him in small numbers. I walked by during a timeout to get to the tunnel to head to the bar for a drink, nodded my head and said thank you for what you have done for the franchise. He acknowledged it and that was that. However, my friend BT got involved, walked up, and promptly told him we were using her husband's firm's seats because it was my 40th and that she would like to take a picture of us together since I'm a huge fan. (Yes, I had one of my Larry Bird jersey's on along with some green and white AJ1 mid's because deep down, I'm still the buzzcut, toolbag, basketball teenage basketball player). I felt embarrassed as hell. He laughed and said "of course, my pleasure, etc," told me Happy Birthday, asked how long I had been a fan / how I became a fan / etc, and that was that.
I think he would be perfect in the college game from a pure coaching point of view, and he wouldn't need to worry too much about recruiting as long as revenue share and NIL are done correctly. However, I am sure he is paid as much as he would be in college, and the work load is far less. He would be stupid to go back to college coaching unless he absolutely feels compelled from a competitive standpoint.
Absent SEC/Big10 money or some billionaire sugar daddy donors willing to donate an extra $30-40m to the athletic department and another 5-10m in NIL or basketball every year on top of current giving levels, Carolina basketball is fucked.
Bama has a team of analysts that sit break down everything for every game, including during the game. The analysts are feeding information to the bench and screaming out information to the team on the floor about what the opposition is running and shit like that. Carolina is still going around like it's 1993 in terms of how the coaching/program is operated, and Carolina is the new IU because of it.
Roy saw the handwriting on the wall and didn't want to deal with the portal/NIL shit. So, he bounced, and good for him. I just wish he would not have fucked us with Hubert by being too nice and loyal on the way out the door.

Oats would kill it at UNC, but I'm not sure he'd leave. It would take at least $7m a year and he'd have to agree to negotiate down the buyout which is like $18m.
Tough time to be emptying the bank and NIL donors for Belechik and then have to figure out how to hire a high level coach for the flagship program of the university

I'd give Ozetlberger a look. Dude is making $3m a year and I think his buyout is a John Deere Combine

Word on IC is that Jordan has been motivated by this Belichick hire (and some cajoling about the current state of play) to get more involved financially and otherwise with UNC basketball. He clearly cares about his legacy and evidently he feels it's in his interests for Carolina basketball to maintain its perch at the top of college hoops. We'll see, but that could certainly be a game changer on a couple of fronts...

DS — We’re all still 12 years old when it comes to our favorite teams. Great story.
As for our NIL deficiencies, I was right there with you until someone ponied up for Belichick and our traditionally mediocre to shitty football program. Someone’s got some deeeeep pockets, but like me (except for the deep pockets), I think they’re apprehensive about investing that kind of jack into Hubert and his Edsel engine ways. If we could secure one of the names I listed, I bet the money would flow. And with this tectonic shift in football, I’ve got to believe we’re making a play for the SEC or B1G to rescue us from the ACC Titanic.

Yeah. I have seen/heard that, even from a BOT/BOG source. I'm still skeptical its a game changing amount because MJ can be a tight fisted mother fucker unless it has to do with buying/building a house, golf course, fishing yacht, plane, etc or a charity his mom cajoles him into donating to, which she still does.

She's spry and sharp for her age. Michael's older brother that lives next to my buddy here in town is 5-6 years older than MJ, and MJ is in his early 60's. So, she's got to be pushing 90.
