carbuncle. needs to be opened at this point, packed with wet to dries and antibiotics, let heal from inside out. Otherwise, the skin will close and the infection will return. It's bigger than they think it is. Probably a staph infection and lucky it didn't start breaking down the skin.

I thought carbuncle until I saw the exudate. Had the string cheese look of keratin, which usually suggests an epidermal cyst.
