"King David (of David and Goliath) was the Bible's number one sociopath. He took other men's wives from them. And he murdered people ruthlessly. 200 foreskins? For shame King David. His statue (in all its glory) stands in a museum in Northern Italy. That is where it belongs."

Pretty much a normal day at the office in ancient times.

David and Goliath were both gay. Jesus too. He was the real flamer of the whole bible...

Today is the beginning of a beautiful ending. The downfall of Donald Trump is continuing.

sometimes there aren't enough social workers.....

(CNN)A Minneapolis judge has sided with residents who sued the city over police staffing levels, saying the mayor and City Council failed to keep the adequate number of officers required by the municipal charter.

Hennepin County Judge Jamie Anderson's order to add officers to the Minneapolis Police Department comes amid a citywide spike in violent crime and calls to defund the police after the May 2020 death of George Floyd.

there is a major law enforcement "shortage" everywhere. We are having terrible problems here in Phoenix.

Beat cops? Ha. That is a luxury. If you spend any time on 27th Avenue (anytime, day or night), the whores are just out in the total open right now, not even the least bit concerned they are going to get busted. It was always a problem on 27th but it was in shadows, you had to go out looking for it. Now they are out in the open (and there are ten times as many whores.) Busting Johns and whores is like the LAST THING our totally overworked police department can handle so its the first laws that they are choosing not to enforce. Next to go will be routine drug enforcement, then shoplifting calls, followed by delivering restraining orders and answering domestic disturbance calls, I just know it. Eventually (if we keep losing cops) investigations will be murders and drive by shootings only, I know it.

We have the budget for the cops here. That is not the problem. The problem is our cops are quitting/retiring in record pace AND we have no newbie 22 year old men signing up to be police recruits. You can't FORCE people to be police. You can't. Generally speaking, young men used to WANT to be cops back in the day. Not so much now. So we are fucked down here.

Why do you lie IB? There is no major shortage in Phoenix. There are 241 jobs available and less then half of them are for patrol officers. The reason you think there is a "major" shortage is because after Floyd they decided to double up patrol cars to two officers because of threats. So yes, those whores you are complaining about get less of a priority. But why are you driving those streets anyway?

That is bullshit.

My next door neighbor is a Scottsdale police officer, a para-military organization. There is ZERO TOLERANCE for certain crimes in Scottsdale. THEY are the highest paying law enforcement agency in the state of Arizona. (Its them at #1, Tempe at #2, then Phoenix at #3.) They are the ones that poach the other departments in the state. Even THEY are short handed. He's working mandatory overtime every week. And this is the SLOW TIME of year. No events in Scottsdale Arizona in the summer.

My next door neighbor has lots of friends who are cops in Phoenix PD, LOTS. They talk all the time. You know what he told me just this morning? He said and I quote: The Phoenix police department is shorthanded by 600 officers, 600. That is 200 less cops on the beat, each shift, 3 shifts a day, every day. Now think about how fucking dangerous that is for us down here? Whatever you find when you hit the google and look on the internet, you are not going to find that statistic. Why would they go public with that?

There is nothing political in my rant, nothing. Its just math. And the math does not add up, we are screwed. And 27th avenue is on the bad side of town, I don't live (or drive) over there.

Now having said that let me say this, I don't know if Cincinnati (your town) has the same law enforcement shortage problem that we have here, but I wouldn't want to wish our problems on anyone. I have no idea how we are going to handle it. But don't sit there are tell me that we aren't supremely shorthanded when I know that we are.

https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/signs ... r-shortage

"Phoenix Police short about 200 officers
The department has been on a mission to get to full staffing since 2015. In a perfect world. the Phoenix Police Department would have 3,100 officers on its force. Currently, the department has about 2,900 officers.

"I think those numbers are so important when we talk about responding to emergencies and having the right people in those situations, at that moment, needing help from people," said Sgt. Fortune.

There are various reasons why officers leave the force, she says, including retirement, career change, or just moving out of state.

"We want people to understand that this is a lifelong career," said Sgt. Fortune. "This is 20 to 25 years of what you're going to give back to the community."

Target and Walgreens recently stepped up security efforts in several California cities in the midst of a wave of theft and crime, and, according to the companies, they will be closing earlier.

A spokesperson for Target confirmed that stores in San Francisco are now closing early and are moving hours from 7 or 8 a.m.–10 p.m. to 9 a.m.–6 p.m. A financial district store will close as early as 5 p.m. on Saturday, according to the company’s website.

The reason why, according to a spokesperson for the corporation, is because of an increase in shoplifting.

“For more than a month, we’ve been experiencing a significant and alarming rise in theft and security incidents at our San Francisco stores, similar to reports from other retailers in the area,” the spokesperson told KPIX-TV over the weekend. “Target is engaging local law enforcement, elected officials, and community partners to address our concerns.”

The spokesperson then said that “with the safety of our guests, team members and communities as our top priority, we’ve temporarily reduced our operating hours in six San Francisco stores.”

Other than San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sacramento have also been hit hard by organized retail crime in recent months, says the California Retailer’s Association. Due to the increase in thefts, a number of stores have been forced to close early or are permanently shutting down.

Walgreens, has already closed several San Francisco stores or reduced hours due to thefts. Managers in some locations have told security guards not to physically engage with individuals who are shoplifting.

“I don’t have any intention of getting stabbed for $60 worth of stuff,” security guard Kevin Greathouse told KGO-TV. “It’s going to be lawsuits, obviously they don’t want ourselves or anybody else to get injured while we’re out here attempting to make these apprehensions and leave it to law enforcement.”

Target’s decision to reduce hours doesn’t come as a surprise, said Rachel Michelin, president of the California Retailers Association, “because we’ve seen other retailers close in San Francisco.”

“I’m actually proud of the fact that they are trying to hold on and keep the stores open,” she added. “There comes a point—with what we have shared with the elected leaders of the city—where these types of decisions have to be made,” said Michelin. “The bottom line is when these employees don’t feel safe coming to work. That’s when they have to take these drastic measures.”

San Francisco is No. 5 in the nation for retail theft, while Los Angeles is No. 1, according to the Retailers Association.

Some police groups have blamed local district attorneys for enabling criminal behavior because of lax bail reform laws.

San Francisco Police Officers Association head Tony Montoya last month criticized District Attorney Chesa Boudin for enabling “criminals-first” policies. Others, including Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, have faced similar pushback.

“Chesa Boudin has made it clear that you’re more likely to get a stern talking-to than a cell when it comes to most crimes committed in our city and the criminals know it, are taking advantage of it, and we’re all suffering because of it,” Montoya said in a statement.

I suspect the locally-owned stores on Market Street don't face this problem, mainly b/c they have somebody in there that will beat the shit out of a crackhead who tries to steal electronics, wigs or whatnot...

When there are no cops on the beat, people take justice into their own hands.
