its 1 in the morning and I can't sleep so I decided to listen to Prince's new Album Welcome 2 America.
I'm sure the songs lyrics carry alot of weight but from a classic Prince sound, the only songs worth listening to are Check the Record, New Position and another song called When She Comes, and by Prince standards they aren't very good. Its like a collection of songs he rejected for Batdance.
No one willl criticize the album though because its posthumous, he was a musical savant and the collection speaks to the woke community and critics who want meaning in their music.
A whole vault of music, 1000's of songs and this is what they pick to release? good lord . they tried to select songs that reflected the time we are in now, not Prince at his best. I'm certain there is a collection of songs in the vault that would rival 1999 in terms of non stop playing.
I want something that makes me want to dance, not the soundtrack for the evening news.

Just started picking thru this channel, some good stuff so far...
The majority of the members of Molly Hatchet appear to have been eating ham and yams nonstop since their first album came out...

If “New Position” is the song I’m thinking of, that dates back to his vintage days…it must have been a B side on something, if it’s the same song…

I did read up on it some more. A couple of sites are leading me to believe this was an unreleased album going back to 2012, which if true, its pretty insightful of Prince and I can't blame the people for picking the songs - but I wouldn't have released it. I would have gone thur that archive and picked out every song that is classic Prince - even skirting away from his Rhythm and Blues stuff and sticking with his more mainstream synth sound

They are. There's enough there to make awesome albums (if they choose correctly true) for the next 70 years. His great great great great great grandchildren ain't gonna die hungry.

RIP, Jerry.
Not that he was interested in caring for his health or living a long life, but he would have been 79 last Sunday (8/1).

They are playing 3/22/85 (Hampton) on gdradio.net right now, this was either my first or second show (they played two nights, this was the second night, I was definitely at this show, can't remember if I sent to the first night, probably not). Fuckin' over 36 years ago. We old...

If you were high you'd remember. Go find some smack and tell us when it really was.

Jerry was so strung out on smack by 1985 that Jerry was literally resting his head on the mic/mic stand during parts of shows.

I remember reading that by '85 there were shows he was resting his head on the mic/mic stand because he was so strung out on smack.

Ok. He went to rehab in '85. So maybe I confused it and read something about '83/'84 along those lines.
