I think we are that good.

HOWEVER...EJ looked mediocre at best. If we are to contend for a championship (conference or MNC), we will need him to win a game before it's over because the OL isn't good enough to get 200 yards on the ground against better defenses. And I'm not sure he's capable of doing that for us. I like the kid - good student, great character, and a hard worker - but he's not an elite QB.

But the ACC is weak (VT - WTF???) so if we can get past Clemson this week I can't imagine being denied a slot in the ACCCG. And with some luck in the injury department (which we haven't had much of lately), we really could conceivably run the table with the way our schedule lays out.

From TomahawkNation - "Of 59 total plays run by Wake Forest, less than half (27) went for positive yardage. 11 went for negative yardage, while 21 netted no gain."

That's how a Wake Forest game should be.

Florida State has outscored its opponents 176-3 so far in 2012, and we've given up 310 yards through three games. Certainly that number will double after Clemson this week but it's nice to again dominate when we should.

yep - it has been well over a decade since we have seen a dominating D - most of the coverage was the old Mickey style mano y mano

From what I saw Saturday there wasn't much to soften.

Blow, blow, thou winter wind.
Thou art not so unkind

How about this:

Blow, blow, thou winter wind.
Thou art not so unkind
As man’s ingratitude
Or 10ac's jackassitude....

The first two lines still don't rhyme. Unless you ended it with with

"Hedge has lost his mind."

"The first two lines still don't rhyme."

They do if you say them with a heavy scottish or irish brogue (as I most certainly did)...

gotta hand it to Clemson they way they came out of the gate in the 1st Q...Clemson is going to be tough the rest of the year and may be able to outscore the 'cocks this year

good thing EJ had his best game since the Chick-Fil-a bowl (imo) - he is the 1st nole QB to have 300+ in passing and 100+ in running in one game since Charlie Ward in '92 - if Dustin keeps missing field goals he may have to trade in the gold shoes...

looking forward to the USF game - we are heading down Fri. - got tickets thru the boosters and we are way up in the SE corner upper deck - could have bought a three game package from USF and gotten much better seats but it would have been a lot more expensive - Doc, you travelling? - I undertand that Mons Venus is ayce...

The one thing that worries me is this - FSU and Clemson fans are gladhanding each other, telling each other how great they are and are Top 10 teams. I remember the EXACT thing happening after one of the FSU/Miami Labor Day games - "both those defenses are incredible, nobody will ever score on either team, blah blah blah". Then each team proceeded to suck.

I really think this team is a Top 10 calibre team - the defense is outstanding (I don't see any team on our schedule being able to exploit our weaknesses like Clemson did because of their great skill players), and the offense looks solid. However, I could also see us shitting the bed once or twice (see UVA last year). It all remains to be seen - Jimbo has the horses, lets see how well he can manage the race.

I haven't talked to BJ Daniels' uncle (used to work for my wife) in a couple of years but I wouldn't mind picking his brain to see what the temperature of the team is. It's certainly a game we win handily on paper but I've been disappointed too many times over the last 10 years to be less than skeptical. UF looks to be the only team with a paper chance of beating us but I'll be surprised if we go into that game undefeated.

not sure what the pollsters are doing ... we're over rated at #3 ... yes, on paper we should be undefeated going into the UF game but NCSU always plays us tough, Miami is away and they can score points and VT is a Thursday night game in which we typically suck ... maybe at this point we should be somewhere between 6 to 8 but 3 is ridiculous - bama?, yes bama, lsu, Oregon, K state, possibly UGa, WVU all could be ahead of us ... methinks Corso and Herbie have the fix in - can anybody get their bookies records?

anyway, if the D can get pressure on Glennon and the O plays as well as they have the last 3 games we could see a 35 - 17 game against the wuffies

FSU has, as you say, suffered uncharacteristically at the lash of the Wuffpaick over the recent years, not sure why. I can assure you it is State's greatest source of pride as a football program, even though FSU had been far below par during those years of relative head-to-head equality with State...
