No one wants to be a cop right now.

I can't speak for Ohio or Minnesota or North Carolina, but in Arizona, if you are physically fit and can score just average on a civil service exam, you can be a police recruit. $47,900 a year for a 22 year old kid to start. That is how desperate they are for law enforcement in Arizona (Phoenix really.) They are actually putting huge help wanted signs over the police precincts.

So they found Chauvin guilty. Okay. I get it. But, $47,900 a year to have to deal with the crap Chauvin had to deal with? To work as a beat cop in the neighborhoods that Chauvin worked? Nope. We are not likely to get many recruits now.

to generalize, the people you are getting for $47K aren't people you want carrying a gun and a badge

to generalize, you are correct

but in general, you can make $60,000/yr working for Dominos Pizza with deliveries, just 40 hours a week in Phoenix. At age 18. And you don't need to carry a gun, a badge, or make arrests in 3rd world neighborhoods.

We are not going to get any cops. If it was bad before it will only be impossible going forward. Why would anyone sign up for this for that kind of money? And I'm not even saying that $47,900 a year is not a lot for a 22 year old. What I am saying is that a young person (particularly a bright one, the kind of person we need to be a cop) is going to do a risk-vs-reward analysis, and then, fuck that shit.

Entry level for any job for 47k ain't nothing to sneeze at. Especially without a worthless college education. 22.60 an hour?

We are having a terribly hard time finding cops. And I assume (now, after Chauvin) it will be worse.

$22.60 an hour is not bad entry level. Arizona is not an expensive place to live compared to some other parts of the country. That said, we can't find anyone. The kind of person who would get $22.60 an hour to start, they are already getting it (or more) elsewhere. And the kind of person who would take it, they are not likely to pass the drug test. I can't speak for Cincinnati, but we have a serious pot and meth problem here and (as a result) our underclass remains a permanent underclass of drug use and no work.

this is where we are at. A policeman has about 3 seconds to assess a violent chaotic situation that was life threatening to at least one person

Image

to break up a knife fight

think about that logic for 10 seconds, 6 more than the policeman had to make a critical decision

This was Obama's strongest advisor

here is another instance of insanity

cop donates $25 to Kyle Rittenhouse's defense fund anonymously mind you and the website gets hacked with the names released.

A 19 year police veteran loses his job over it because he said "God Bless, stay strong, you've done nothing wrong" anonymously

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Norfolk, Virginia, Police Lt. William K. Kelly lost his job after a 19-year career for which of the following:

A. Misconduct in the professional ranks in Virginia
B. Officer-involved shooting in Norfolk
C. Racially insensitive comments on the job

The answer: None of the above.

But it's true that Lt. Kelly really did lose his job.

The officer was fired for giving $25 to Illinois 18-year-old shooter Kyle Rittenhouse's legal defense fund with the message, "you've done nothing wrong."

Kelly made an anonymous donation. So how did anyone find about it?

A hack attack on the donation list.

Kyle Rittenhouse is accused of killing two men and wounding another in a nightmarish evening last Aug. 25 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The kid was alone amid left-wing rioters who virtually took control of the streets. Rittenhouse was 17 years old at the time – alone, scared, running for his life.

Rittenhouse has pleaded not guilty and argues he fired in self-defense. His legal defense fund has so far raised over $2 million.

Here's what Norfolk city manager Chip Filer said about Kelly's support of Rittenhouse: "I have reviewed the results of the internal investigation involving Lt. William Kelly. Chief Larry Boone and I have concluded Lt. Kelly's actions are in violation of City and departmental policies. His egregious comments erode the trust between the Norfolk Police Department and those they are sworn to serve."

Here's what Norfolk Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander added: "The alleged statement and action by a member of Norfolk's Police Department is alarming and by all means not consistent with the values of our city or the standards set for our employees."

At a certain point in the future, after all the human cops are convicted of murder or are fired for donating money to charitable causes, and no other young people step up to become police recruits, and the BLM mob comes to your neighborhood to burn down your house and steal your stuff, this will be the only law enforcement left to protect you
