Not saying I won't watch the playoff/tourney but College sports are retarded right now. I pity the fool who goes out like that.

One thing about Phil Jackson. He was a self-professed zen master, and he needed Kobe to read a book about zen, which of course the Mamba rejected out of hand. Kobe and Mike did both need to win though, last time I checked. The real Buddhist Master was Dennis. He didn't need to win at all. He just did for shits and giggles.

my wife is helping out with the school play. Tonight was the second show
the lead of the show, a young girl, got a very bad nose bleed in the second act, so in order to stop the bleeding they shove a tampon up her nose
so she is on stage singing with a tampon hanging out of her nose. To make matters worse, the didn't have time to cut the string so the string was hanging out as well. She was a pro about it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that video pop up on Instagram somewhere

Big10 football is a joke outside of Michigan and OSU and (half the time) Penn State. Wisconsin pops up now and then, I guess Michigan State too, but it's hit or miss...

I was just saying that to say that we wouldn't really be any worse off in football in the Big10 than we've been in the ACC. The SEC would be another matter, but I bet we'd get an uptick in recruiting...

not unless you have an uptick in NIL money to the tune of about 7m more than what you are paying now

Missouri HC Drinkwitz has gone on the record numerous times saying that moving from conference to conference does not mean any uptick in ANYHING other than money. For data, he cites Nebraska. Basically, his claim is that when Nebraska was in the B12, they were able to recruit in Texas and Oklahoma (well, Texas is everything) and as such, they were able to win multiple national championships. Since they moved to the B1G, they have not been able to recruit in Texas and they haven't won shit. On the field, Nebraska sucks. The only thing that is good for Nebraska now, is money. Nothing else. Just money.
The moves the Pac-12 schools made were "survival" moves. Not joining a conference leaves Oregon State and Washington State a similar fate that befell Temple when they were expelled from the Big East, irrelevance. But even those who do have a seat to sit on when the Pac-12 music stops in July, they have it pretty shitty at the moment. With the exception of USC and UCLA, they are ALL making far less money than each were making when in the Pac-12. Now, maybe that will change for Oregon and Washington in 6 or 7 years, but things are not nearly as lucrative now. We don't know what will happen with recruiting but I don't suspect it will be any kind of benefit. Oregon is not going to bring in any 5-stars from Ohio.

Nebraska won multiple national championships with Prop-48 players and steroids, especially the former. Once Prop-48 was abolished and steroid testing became more rigorous, they went to shit.

I'll give Stoops credit, he is doing well by UK standards working the portal.
The transfer portal is a sweet spot for schools like UK and UNC.
The giant schools - Bama, Georgia, Ohio St, are always going to have great players that either feel they were underutilized and will gladly jump to serious football school that offers a starter spot in a offense that caters to them.
UK is on its 3rd serious QB (Leary sucked but on paper he was good) from the portal - guys we had no shot in landing against standard recruiting, we're now on our second serious running back and we have landed a solid WR.
Sending guys to the NFL with some regularity certainly helps, and a school like UK will never have depth like Georgia or Bama, but the transfer portal can give us a 5 or 6 key position players that can compete with anyone in the country. The downside is most of those guys have 1 year left of eligibility so you start it all over again.

I guess UK fans are excited
I was until we lost to UNC-W and Cal is determined to play two 7 footers when that is an antiquated approach to basketball

Even Carolina has abandoned utilizing two bigs now that Roy is long gone with Hubert trying to play a more "pro style" offense, but I still think a dual big lineup could work as long as you stay in a matchup zone out of the 2-3/2-1-2 or 1-3-1, provided the bigs aren't fucking stiffs. I don't think it's viable in a man-to-man system like Roy insisted on using, but I think it's still a viable option for success at the collegiate level.
